Astrologer Steven Forrest says supportive insights can be found hiding in plain sight in a birth chart
How do you like your prospects for the future?
For many the answer to this query comes laced with ambivalence or possibly with angst.
“One big problem when it comes to finding the life you were born to live? Too much advice!” astrologer Steven Forrest opines.
“Everybody seems to have suggestions for you, especially when you are young. Generally those suggestions show a range of imagination stretching from A to B – get a job, make a baby, eat plenty of vegetables, plan for your retirement. Then die,” he writes in a recent blog post that explores the “single greatest gift astrology can offer.”
Forrest notes that astrology, if it is anything at all, is a celebration of human diversity.
“What if your life is not supposed to be about career or family? What if you are on the road less traveled? Normal isn’t for everybody,” he observes, adding:
“The single greatest gift astrology can offer anyone is to reveal that mirror of truth, illuminating those unsupported places where, in order to be true to yourself, you must embrace the parts of yourself that might be called weird, marginalized or extraordinary.
“Often, those critical, supportive insights are hiding in plain sight, visible with a single glance at the birth chart – and overlooked until we remove our cultural blinders and truly hear what the symbols are saying.”
Forrest has been working as a professional astrologer for more than 40 years and has written several classic, best-selling books. In an article posted on the Astrology News Service (ANS) website he makes the point that consciousness and cosmos “are structured around the same laws, follow the same patterns and even feel pretty much the same to our senses.
“Just as the starry night awes us with its vastness, there’s something infinitely deep inside you, a place that is beyond being an Aries or a Gemini or even a specific gender. At the most profound level a birth chart is a map back to that magical center. It describes a series of earthly experiences which, if you’re brave and open enough, will trigger certain states of consciousness in you – states that operate like powerful spiritual catalysts, vaulting you into higher levels of being.
“You are a mysterious being in a mysterious cosmos. You’re here for just a little while, a blink of God’s eye. You face a monumental task: figuring out what’s going on!
“In that spiritual work, astrology is your ally.”
Forrest says that astrology works “by reminding you who you are, by warning you about the comforting lies that we all tell ourselves, and by illuminating the experiences that trigger your most explosive leaps in awareness.
“After that, the rest is up to you,” he said.
