Jerome Powell’s Social Media Move
By Sue Kientz
A little over a week ago, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell turned to Social Media to announce that the Federal Reserve was just served with grand jury subpoenas regarding Powell’s testimony in June 2025 to the Senate Banking Committee about renovations at the Federal Reserve office buildings. His unprecedented Sunday video appearance allowed Powell to personally assert that this move by the U.S. Dept. of Justice was an obvious threat to criminally indict him, to enable President Trump to remove him as Federal Reserve chair and appoint a new chairman, one more pliable to Trump’s requests to bring down interest rates. After briefly describing the ulterior motive of the president as wanting the power to control interest rates, Powell vowed to keep doing his oversight job as chairman “without political fear or public favor,” but rather with “integrity and a commitment to serving the American people.”(1)
By the end of the week, Powell’s viral video statement had the almost magical effect of creating pushback from Senate Republicans against Trump’s controversial pressure campaign against the Fed chairman.(2) Reuters pointed out that Powell might even be inspired to retain his seat on the Federal Reserve’s board of governors, noting that he would likely be the deciding swing vote and continue to stymie Trump.(3) Who is this guy whom Trump seemed to easily push around at a construction site just a few months ago, with Powell then refuting Trump’s accusations in a quiet, Caspar-Milquetoast demeanor?(4)
Astrology has surprising news about Jerome Powell. Born in Washington, DC, on February 4, 1953,(5) Powell’s Sun and Mercury (at 15 and 16 Aquarius) are opposite (180 degrees) Pluto and Haumea (22 and 23 Leo), and square (90 degrees) expansive Jupiter (12 Taurus). This configuration paints him as a forward-thinking, future-attentive (Aquarius) person, aware (opposite) of the power plays and political maneuvering (Pluto) that lead to financial wobbles and upheavals (negative Haumea) unless one makes careful changes (positive Haumea, able to fix problems).(6) His Sun/Mercury and Pluto/Haumea are fortunately energized by the square from Jupiter (the challenge of the square is well handled by work, applying oneself), which also provides him a broad view (Jupiter) of monetary concerns (Taurus). Powell’s Sun/Mercury also benefits by the pair’s fortunate trine (120 degrees, ease of expression) to a large group in Libra: Quaoar (10 Libra), Moon (15 Libra), Varda (17 Libra), Ixion (18 Libra), and Neptune (23 Libra). In some fashion, Powell understands a wealth of factors about other people (Libra) that aids his critical decisions. The general mood and emotions (Moon), risks and gambles (Quaoar), and an inner vision (Varda) help him sense the timing of his money moves, and he also has a knack for breaking norms (Ixion) and maintaining mystery (Neptune), all of which have helped him keep ahead of his erratic president.
President Trump thinks he dislikes Powell because he won’t bend to the president’s will about interest rates, but that just scratches the surface of far deeper irritations. Powell’s Pluto/Haumea is conjunct Trump’s Mars (26 Leo),(7) and that puts Powell in the driver’s seat over Trump’s urge to have his way and express his anger (both Mars related). Even more disturbing, however, is Powell’s Sun/Mercury sits exactly opposite Trump’s Haumea (16 Leo), suggesting that in his inability to control Powell, Trump senses he is losing something important, and he does not know why he cannot change that.
