Juno, Neptune, Trump and Universal Tariffs

On May 30, 2025, President Trump announced tariffs on steel and aluminium imports would double. This was just after the US Court of International Trade found his recent global tariffs to be illegal, but which is seemingly now paused pending a presidential appeal.
In 2025, Juno forms three waning trines (120 degrees) with Neptune. Mythologically Juno, Queen and Consort of Jupiter, is a shrewd political player who seeks to maintain balance, then recalibrate when necessary. She is also an advocate for collective rights, especially financial ones, as reflected in one of her epithets, Juno Moneta.
The first trine occurred on February 8 (at 28 degrees of Scorpio and Pisces). On February 1, President Trump raised tariffs on Chinese, Mexican, and Canadian imports, seeking to reduce fentanyl and illegal immigration into the US. Some of these threats were later paused or rescinded. On February 4 China responded with reciprocal tariffs on coal, crude oil and liquified natural gas products. A game of “tariff ping pong” ensued throughout March, including a 200% tariff on European alcohol. These are all very Neptunian products!
The second trine which exacted (at 0 Sagittarius and Aries) April 11, was foreshadowed by Trump’s “Universal Tariff” announcement April 2, leading to an escalation of these themes with China, announcing a retaliatory increase in tariffs on all American imports of 125%, set to take effect April 12. This is still seemingly going everywhere but nowhere, which perfectly describes a trine with Neptune! Let’s see what happens with the third trine October 3, followed soon after by the square (90 degrees) which will exact December 28 (at 29 Sagittarius and Pisces). In case you are wondering, Juno has an elliptical orbit, therefore this cycle is not irregular.
This particular Juno Neptune cycle started December 27, 2022, at 22 Pisces, square Trump’s Gemini Sun and falling in his Eighth House of taxes. On December 9, the World Trade Organization ruled he violated global trade rules in 2018 by invoking national security to justify tariffs on steel and aluminium. Interesting!
There is perhaps a double-edged sword with Juno and Neptune’s collaboration here; Trump’s vision of his rights regarding tariffs is perhaps unfiltered and unimpeded, whilst other nations advocate for fair deals. Might Juno be showing the world there has been an imbalance in the global economy and that a recalibration is indeed required?
Of course this is a smaller cycle within much larger epochal shifts, so let’s consider the last time a Juno Neptune cycle began, which was January 2014 (at 3 Pisces), a year in which oil prices crashed.Before that it was 1857 (at 18 Pisces), which saw the “Panic of 1857,” a financial crisis in the United States caused by the declining international economy and over-expansion of the domestic economy. The next conjunction in Pisces will be 2179!
Returning to now, the nearest Juno Neptune cycle starts in March 2027 (at 4 Aries), conjunct the World Trade Organization’s Jupiter, close to the US Sibley Chart’s IC and conjunct the Descendant of both charts for the Euro Currency. The WTO will experience a Juno Return November 4, 2025 (at 10 Sagittarius), close to the Sibley’s Ascendant. Something new is arising, so perhaps this particular cycle might be worth following regarding its insight around global economic recalibration.
