The New Moon’s Energetic News: Scorpio

November 19, 2025

By Lynne Hyde

This challenging cycle is thankfully, finally ending. It has been a snarled time with tediously retrograde Mercury tangled up with the red ropes of bullying Mars. Both planets have been travelling closely together, and anger, impatience and strained efforts have put their claws in November’s tender, peaceful Libra belly. Five planets above us have been moving backwards, and situations here below have been spinning, shifting, not moving forward, coming close to being out of control.

We now enter fall’s Scorpio cycle, a place of hidden underwater depths where the hunt for power patrols. As the season turns, our ease fades, the days shorten, darkness finds us and our focus narrows, as Scorpio time is concerned with survival and control. This part of the twelve-fold wheel is where we are forced to dive under and face our inner demons. It’s a time to look at what’s running our outer world and what emotions are operating our inner sensitive psyches. No one will be fooled now as we can all see the underlying agendas behind the superficial, vain appearances of everyone and everything around us. Scorpio has laser vision, bestows brutal honesty and will fight a bitter battle to dig up the last morsel of truth. We are in the “great astrological cycle’s” natural time band of working on accepting death and reconciling that mortality exists.

The New Moon’s chart on November 20, 2025, is surprisingly auspicious.  We haven’t seen such positive and supportive aspects to the other planets in many Moons and many months. We have the Sun, Moon and Mercury (the planet of thought, communication and details, weakened because it’s retrograde) all aligned exactly at 28 degrees of Scorpio and in a Grand Trine (bountiful harmony) to Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. Six of the ten planets are now all in tremendous alliance and allegiance! Our hopes are strong, our intentions are possible and the wind of the world’s sails is behind our individual backs. We can rely on this with the planets all in the same element of Water.

This month may unfold smoothly, with less strife and worry. Projects begun now may flow easily downhill with these Water planet’s rapid currents, carrying them to fruition. Our emotions will be strong, direct, pronounced and true, as everyone is in touch with their potent feelings. It’s important in the next thirty days to look people in the eye and share the compassion that’s piling high on our porous river banks. Sentiment is about to spill over and drop like tears as we go through our everyday lives, with most of the planets hovering in Water Signs. Passion runs deep.  The only problem is that half the planets are retrograde.

Retrograde planets signify a time of rest and contemplation.  This tells us to hold onto the visons, the ideas, the momentum that comes to us as we rake the leaves and pick up the broken branches that drop into our yards, and not be discouraged, as the sun sets far too early now.  We are gathering a sound strategy that we can trust when the planets turn direct.  Mercury and Saturn change direction within a day of each other on November 28th and 29th, and Jupiter, the planet of favorable future movement, moves forward March 12th.  We all are suspended and waiting, and we need to stay hopeful with this planetary awareness.

The end of the lunar month may be a better time for beginnings. Try to float as lightly as possible in the thick density, and remember that life is impermanent, we are not here forever and our moments are precious.  Patience and perseverance are howling at the backdoors with the cooling winds of this deep Scorpio cycle blowing, while the condensation of the contracting winter is approaching. Scorpio whispers all around us that we need to remember we are held only by the arms of life and death…

There may be a complicated, twisted knot that begins to churn away, upsetting our stomachs as this New Moon is born. The Sun, Moon and Mercury are aligned at 28 degrees of Scorpio, a degree away from directly opposing Uranus, the planet of unexpected change and turbulence, at 29 degrees of Taurus. This is the challenge of the cycle. Uranus is a disrupter. Its purpose is to keep us riding on the edge and not allow us to get too comfortable and apathetic. It states loud and clear, “Life is uncertain and nothing but Change can be counted on.”  When you think everything is set up perfectly, events can shift direction suddenly. Uranus’ effects can have a sharpness; who really likes sudden change? We need to soften and become adaptable, so as not to get cut.

So, the good news is that every month when a New Moon forms, we get a chance to clean and clear the slate. We get a chance at a fresh beginning. The energies transform twelve times a year and astrology’s brilliant lens can guide us and show us how to take in the newness and use it to be on planet Earth more easily, more productively and more in harmony.  Scorpio is here and present; may we all dive deep and embrace that death exists, so that we can live more powerfully and fully NOW.
