The New Moon’s Energetic News:  Cancer

The Sun has draped its maternal embrace of warmth and light around us as it carefully climbs and reaches its highest elevation point above the earth. It stops for a proud, long, brilliant moment to birth the grandiosity of the Summer Solstice, the time when the Sun and our lives can finally, if only briefly, stand importantly still.  There is a pause, here in the north, on the longest day of the year to acknowledge all that has been planted throughout the year that we witness in full bloom now. We are no longer transitioning between skinny, shapeless seasons and mental uncertainty, but we have promptly arrived in the center of summer’s heated heart, somewhere that is emotionally definite and full of substance, where we must take stock of our lives and take parental responsibility for where we find ourselves landing in this time of extended illumination. It’s Cancer time, our feelings are strong, and we want and need to safely belong …

The beauty of this cycle is that the New Moon on June 25^th inhales its first clean, fresh breath with Jupiter, the planet of abundance, holding its hand, right at its side. Jupiter is the “feel good” planet and has just entered the Sign of Cancer where it hasn’t been for twelve years. Jupiter is happy in Cancer, has dignity and does its mission of “opening opportunities” well here. It’s relieved and joyous to be back in the water lands where it knows how to give gallantly and swim. Humanity is able to feel the solid steadiness of its bones and the essential fluids circulating gently in its cells. We all feel a bit more at home and comfortable in our bodies now. The buoyancy of Jupiter is beginning to melt the edges of our stress.  Use this cycle to do what you love and especially what makes you feel good. Jupiter and life are giving us a needed uplift during this month of July. Happiness is flirtatiously dancing around us and we can take a risk and grab a kiss… We can finally feel found.

Neptune and Saturn have both recently stomped into the minefields of Aries where Mars is King and bombs are exploding over the earth’s Middle Eastern grounds, and the freakiness of WAR is all around. Astrologers anticipated this coming and just as Jupiter fell into the deep, cold seas of Cancer, with unrelenting pressure, and tightly squared the Aries duo, Fire and Flame, Power and Aggression blasted into our shocked view. We watch the planetary storm unfold in disbelief. We witness the buildings collapse and see the stone smoking and the rubble rise and we can’t quite get that this barbaric horror can exist in this modern world of ours, that we have all created, in the now faltering year of 2025. We are in the center of the planetary eye of the needle now, the toughest astrology experienced in many lifetimes and centuries…

On July 8^th another colossal change penetrates through the stone of our past. Uranus leaves the Earth of Taurus and enters the Air of Gemini where it hasn’t been for 84 years. We will get a quick sip and a slight taste of what’s to come over the next four months, before it retrogrades back into the final, fateful degrees of Taurus this fall, and then commits fully to its seven-year transit of Gemini.  Our focus may fade away from financial fear and uncertainty, as wherever Uranus strides there is an erratic edge.  The new, sharp rim will be in our overly active minds and the radical technology that’s sure to sweep through our lives with the planet of turbulence in the dual Sign of mental Gemini. Our nervous systems will surely need to learn a new way of vibrating…

With the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter all holding camp, in the nurturing Sign of Cancer, that has its concerns and talent for creating security this month, it may be a good time to feel out where home is and where you want to be for the next twelve years of your life. The planets here want to feel safe, protected and cared for.  Jupiter gives its blessing and provides the right set of circumstances to create our needed homes and sound real estate investments for the next year and the twelve years ahead. This month especially, may be a fortunate time to plan to sell or to move.
