The New Moon’s Energetic News:  Libra

October 20, 2025

by Lynne Hyde

Well, the eclipses landed and splattered themselves all over the globe. Eclipse season is over but it is now that we begin to see and experience the results. The eruption, like a volcano, has occurred and the effects stream like lava down the mountainside of our lives. We are not held tightly anymore, passing through the narrow eye of the needle, but we have made it through and are on the other side. A lot has happened and change has blanketed the landscape of the world around us; we might not know where to place our next step as the Virgo ground below us has turned into Libra air.  All we know is we must move forward…

It’s Libra time and on October 21st the Sun and the Moon will join at twenty-eight degrees, which is almost at the end, of the relationship Sign. Libra needs others in order to see itself. It doesn’t operate well alone. The Sun is not considered strong here because Libra only feels good when everyone else does too. It’s not “self” directed but “other” directed. It can end up giving itself away and can easily become disempowered. It’s constantly in a dance of having to balance its own needs and the needs of others around them. Libra understands the importance of cooperation but can easily be confused about what’s within its own boundaries and what belongs in the other’s circle.

The back and forth between self and others can create conflict and an underlying, disturbing unsettledness.   Libra is known to have severe difficulty making decisions because of this. It sees both sides of situations and is constantly considering between the two. Be compassionate with yourself and others this month if you find a persistent waffling with choices oozing through the cracks of daily life.

The planet in charge of this Sign is Venus. The planet’s energy is concerned with peace, harmony and beauty. It represents the feminine, the women, the sister, the mother in one’s chart. It prefers “peace” at any price. Venus operates with its end goal being ease and balance for all. It’s soft, giving and able to compromise. During the month ahead, with this non-aggressive Sign’s cycle being born, negotiations can hopefully proceed more effectively. It has started with the Israel/Hamas ceasefire that just took place with the Sun stepping carefully over the tranquil Libra degrees. Now, with the Moon joining the Sun and birthing the “harmony-seeking cycle” maybe America’s governmental shutdown and other conflicts around the globe can get “unstuck,” if only just a little, as Libra and Venus want to deliver hope.

For us in our little mortal lives, this is a good time to reach out and seek feeling connected in our relationships.  We need people this month. We have been fixing our physical worlds for two long Virgo cycles and now we remember our friends, the like-minded people in our lives who hold the same values.  Venus is also in Libra and Chiron, the planetary body of woundedness and healing, is opposed to this New Moon, suggesting that we need to recover ourselves through paying attention and healing our relationships, not forgetting the importance of other people in our lives.

Mercury, in charge of connecting and communicating, is at the exact same degree as Mars and both are situated firmly in powerful and controlling Scorpio. There may be intense talks, dives into deep, intimate areas that need to be expressed to bridge the gap between ourselves and others. There may be confrontations if we are not careful.  Mercury and Mars are in a large Water Grand Trine (favorable aspect) with Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces. Four of the ten planets are in the emotional Water Signs, signaling that although Libra is a spacey, ungrounded Air Sign, feelings this month may run deep and raw and sensitivity may be spilling out, all over the place. We will need to listen because everyone, including ourselves, needs to know and sense that their feelings are being understood.

This may not be easy as Mercury will turn retrograde November 9th, the same day Uranus moves back into Taurus for the final time. Pluto turned direct right as the bombs halted over Gaza and power for transformation was finally unleashed. We are left with three outer planets retrograde and as this cycle unfolds Mercury and Jupiter will follow and we will have half of the planets stalled, as well as our plans and intentions. Uranus is at zero degrees of Gemini right now, in a favorable relationship with Pluto at one degree of Aquarius. Our ideas have wings. Uranus will turn its airy head and back down into earthy, stubborn Taurus in the middle of November to finish up old business. As said before, we all are finishing, completing, clearing and consolidating things before the launch of “new beginnings” in the Spring.

May our blessed marriages work and may our precious friendships survive and thrive.  May we make peace with our situations in our lives or make friends with “this is as good as it gets for now,” as the Libra atmosphere tries to soothe us as it blows in with the cooling fall winds…
