Boring Super Bowl but Thrilling Astrology

February 12, 2026

By Cesar Love

Anyone disappointed by the dullness of Super Bowl LX should consider that boring Super Bowls are redeemed by the compelling astrology that lurks behind them.

In every Super Bowl, two teams compete that are riding that season’s zeitgeist of the Outer Planets. The Super Bowl of Feb 8, 2026, matched the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks who both channeled the conjunction (0 degrees) of Saturn and Neptune on the cusp of Pisces and Aries.

The narrative of the Patriots was that of a young team that outperformed expectations. In 2024, they finished their season with 4 wins and 13 loses, just as they had in 2023. The proud Patriots franchise, which holds the record for the most Super Bowl wins and appearances, had become pathetic. But all would change under the Saturn-Neptune conjunction of 2025.

The birth chart of the New England Patriots (born Nov 16, 1959) contains the South Node at 1 Aries, a prime location to absorb the Neptune and Saturn conjunction. Aries is the sign of youth. It brings renewal, vigor and enthusiasm. What Aries lacks in experience, the sign makes up for in go-for-it bravado. With Saturn and Neptune conjunct their Aries point, the Patriots were led by a young quarterback, Derek Maye, and a new coach, Mike Vrabel.

The Patriots’ renewal also contained a Frankenstein factor. Their birth chart has the Sun, Mars, and Neptune in Scorpio, the Sign of death and regeneration. When Mike Vrabel was hired as head coach on Jan 12, 2025, Uranus (23 Taurus) was positioned exactly opposite (180 degrees) to the Patriots Sun (23 Scorpio). Uranus, the planet of lightning, brought the voltage that this reanimation required. The Patriots, who had been dead for years, came back to life.

The narrative of the 2025 Seattle Seahawks (born June 4, 1974, 2:10 pm) (1) contains a subplot of a vagabond quarterback, San Darnold, who found redemption with his new team. But Darnold was not the driving force of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl season. Rather, it was the Seahawks defense that won them the trophy.

In the game of football, the Sign of Cancer and the Moon rule the defense. Cancer is naturally protective. Think of a parent doing all they can to protect one’s home and family. Think of a resistance militia protecting one’s homeland against foreign invaders. This is the role of the defense as it protects its goal line against a hostile offense.

The Seattle Seahawks have a very strong Moon, as they were born on a Full Moon Eclipse in the Sign of Sagittarius. Their birth chart also contains three planets and the Midheaven in the Sign of Cancer. Saturn (5 Cancer) and Mercury (7 Cancer) are conjunct, while Mars (27 Cancer) sits in the 10th House. With these placements, the Seahawks would grow into a strong defensive team.  In the 2025 season, the Neptune Saturn conjunction formed a trine (120 degrees) to the Seahawks 10th House Mars. The 10th House is a place of control and power. Indeed, Seattle’s defense became dominant under this aspect. In 2025, they led the NFL in the fewest average points allowed per game with 17.2. (2)

During the Super Bowl, the Seahawks defense was especially potent as they shut out the Patriots in the first half. Interestingly, the first half kickoff occurred at 3:40 pm PST with the Ascendant (27 Cancer) exactly conjunct the Seahawks’ Mars. This was an indicator that their defense would start strong.

Another feature of note in the Seahawks birth chart is a square (90 degrees) from Pluto (4 Libra) to their Mercury and Saturn conjunction in Cancer. Pluto squares are a kind of death grip. This aspect adds a Darth Vader-like meanness to their defense. Interestingly, the defense of the 2025 Seahawks named themselves “The Dark Side”(3), a name that mirrors the energy of the Pluto square to their Cancer planets.

Both the Patriots and the Seahawks rode Outer Planets to arrive at Super Bowl LX, yet at the end of the game, a more mysterious aspect was at play. Super Bowl LX ended at 7:23 pm PST. At that precise moment, the Part of Spirit (4) was conjunct the Midheaven (9 Gemini) above the city of Seattle. The Part of Spirit is an advanced astrological calculation that points towards purposes linked to very deep parts of one’s soul. It will be interesting to observe how the city of Seattle employs the energy of this Super Bowl towards the growth of its soul.
