Neptune Sinks Chiefs Dynasty as Mahomes Suffers Season-Ending Injury

December 23, 2025

By Cesar Love

The Kansas City Chiefs (b. 8/14/1959) built themselves a mini kingdom, winning nine consecutive AFC division titles and three of the last seven Super Bowls, yet they are having a difficult 2025 season under a Neptune transit.  Still, they had a chance to reach the playoffs, until the planets dealt a cruel injury to their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Dec 14, 2025. Mahomes was sideswiped by a linebacker and tore an anterior cruciate ligament of his knee, ending his season and the Chiefs’ hopes for the playoffs.

Patrick Mahomes (b. 9/17/1995) was experiencing an opposition (180 degrees) from Saturn in late Pisces to his Sun (24 Virgo) for the 2025 season. Neptune was lurking in late Pisces as well.  These oppositions set him up for the blow that ended his season. On Dec 14, the Sun (23 Sagittarius) formed squares (90 degrees) to Saturn (25 Pisces) and Neptune (29 Pisces); and to Mahomes’ Virgo Sun. Mahomes had struggled through the Neptune opposition, yet he had kept his head above water.  But the added square from the Sun in Sagittarius to his natal Sun did him in.  Not coincidentally, the blow on the field came at a 90-degree angle, when a Los Angeles Chargers linebacker tackled him from the side.

Patrick Mahomes’ injury was the low point of Kansas City Chiefs’ Neptune-drenched 2025. They would soon lose the game and be out of playoff contention. The defending AFC champs have lost many games as a result of dropped catches, penalties, turnovers, and an inability to play strong at the end of matches. The Chiefs have reached the playoffs in each of the last ten years and they have appeared in five of the last seven Super Bowls. Empires are built with the bricks of Saturn, then they are toppled by the Outer Planets (Neptune, Uranus and Pluto). In 2025, the Chiefs are experiencing a square from Neptune in late Pisces to their natal conjunction of the Moon and Saturn (0 Capricorn). This is the aspect that brought inconsistency and lack of focus to the championship team. On the day of Mahomes’ injury, Neptune would combine with a square from Mars (29 Sagittarius). A Mars square can blindside its recipient as its aggressive energy arrives at an unfriendly angle. That unfriendly Mars energy would also be exactly conjunct to the Chiefs Moon and Saturn conjunction (0 Capricorn).

Despite the misfortune it brought, this Mars transit unwraps a profound significance of the Chiefs Moon-Saturn conjunction on the degree of the Winter Solstice. The Kansas City Chiefs were born on Aug 14, 1959 at 10:50 am CST, simultaneously with four other football teams: the New York Jets, the Tennessee Titans, the Denver Brocos and the Los Angeles Chargers. All five teams share this aspect of the Moon and Saturn conjunct at the degree of the Winter Solstice (0 Capricorn).

In North America, the game of football is a Winter Solstice ritual. On or near the longest night of the year (whether Christmas, Hanukkah or the actual Solstice), the observance of football games is a part of the holiday gatherings. At this time of year, strangers come together by cheering for their local team. Football functions as a rite of winter. The weather is cold. The days are short. Light and hope are faint, yet the sport of football provides a fire to gather around. It is deeply profound that five NFL teams have planets conjunct on the degree of the Winter Solstice. It is also deep that the planets involved are the Moon and Saturn, energies that have challenges creating harmony. The emotions and sentimentality of the Moon (often represented by the mother) and the disciplined and hierarchical energy of Saturn (typically embodied in the father) often clash. Yet both energies are present in families as they come together for winter holiday celebrations.
