Super Bowl Champs Die a Scorpionic Death
by Cesar Love
The Philadelphia Eagles (1) lost their title as the Super Bowl Champions on Jan.11 under multiple Pluto transits. The Scorpionic Eagles did not accept the loss stoically. There was no decorum of good sportsmanship as they were dethroned. Any “we gave it our best” platitudes were overshadowed by video of the coach and a wide receiver yelling at each other, condemnation from the fans (2), and the firing of the offensive coordinator.
Scorpios do not take losing well, as they would rather swallow their own venom than let anyone else beat them. A scorpion is known to kill itself with its own stinger rather than accept defeat at the hands of another. The Eagles’ playoff defeat (3) was not exactly by their own hand, although they dropped passes, committed untimely penalties, and were unable to finish strong. More Scorpionic was how the Eagles tribe turned on itself as it went down.
The pain of the Eagles Nation can be understood by eyeballing its birth chart and the transits of the game.
The Eagles’ Rising Sign is 5 Scorpio. The figure of the eagle is considered an exaltation of the Sign Scorpio. When a lowly scorpion that lurks beneath bushes and under rocks transforms through the caldron of its experiences, it emerges as an eagle, a magnificent creature with the power of flight, a creature with feathers rather than scales. The Philadelphia Eagles have seasons of aquiline flight, three NFL championships and two Super Bowl titles. But they still embody the base energy of Scorpio, particularly through their fans, known for their obnoxious behavior (4) and booing of Santa Claus (5).
The Eagles chart has the Sun and Pluto conjunct (0 degrees) in the Sign of Cancer. Pluto, the ruling planet of Scorpio, is very strong in the Eagles’ birth chart. With the Sun conjunct Pluto, this team captures Pluto’s energy in a powerful way. Indeed, this team lives on the border between life, death, and transformation. The Eagles will thrive, crash and burn, then come back to life. But death and rebirth are painful. They involve cutting off parts of yourself. It is not easy to fire a trusted coach.
Another painful feature in the Eagles chart is Saturn (14 Aquarius) conjunct their IC* (12 Aquarius). The IC is the ruling axis point of the Moon and of the Sign Cancer. Anyone with a Cancer Sun deserves a warm cozy nest. But Aquarius is a Sign of cold weather. The Eagles not only have Saturn conjunct their IC in Aquarius, they also have their Moon in the same Sign at 4 Aquarius. The Eagles will never host their home games in a heated domed stadium. Saturn demands they play in harsh winter weather. Saturn tells them to stiffen up and handle the cold. Yet their players and their fans are warm-blooded creatures naturally uncomfortable in sub-freezing temperatures.
The Eagles were taken out of contention when they lost a home playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 11, 2026, a day in which they received harsh transits involving Pluto. A stellium of planets in Capricorn (Mars, Sun and Venus) formed a harsh opposition (180 degrees) to their natal Pluto (22 Cancer). Meanwhile Pluto in transit (3 Aquarius) was conjunct their Moon (4 Aquarius). A key moment in the drama of this loss occurred at 5:51 pm EST as Pluto was conjunct the Descendant. This was the moment when Eagles receiver A.J. Brown, who had dropped multiple passes, and head coach Nick Sirianni argued intensely (6) on the sidelines and had to be separated. When an axis point such as the Descendant is conjunct a planet, the energy of that planet is likely to become manifest in an obvious way.
Two days later, with Mars, Venus and the Sun still in opposition to their Pluto, the Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, who had been heavily criticized and blamed for the low production of the offense.
Scorpio pain is horrible, yet it brings a deep purge. The Eagles will return in fall, fully ready to play.
