Aster-Obit:  Diane Keaton

October 15, 2025

By Alex Miller

Beloved American actress and Academy Award winner Diane Keaton passed away October 11, 2025, at the age of 79.  Keaton’s career spanned seven decades, where she gained many accolades for her work in both drama and comedy.  Principal among her roles were Kay, wife of Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Godfather” trilogy; and the irrepressible Annie Hall, Woody Allen’s classic, for which she won her Oscar.  Hall and Allen teamed on eight films and were romantically involved, but Keaton never married, adopting two children later in life.

Born 5 January 1946(1), Diane Keaton’s lifepath was laid out from birth, with Saturn, arbiter of career (21 Cancer), in sesquiquadrate aspect (135 degrees) to asteroid Actor (9 Sagittarius), making acting a logical occupation.  Success as a film actress was intimated by a T-Square (2) with the Sun (14 Capricorn) on its fulcrum, squared (90 degrees) a conjunction of Neptune (8 Libra), ruling films, and asteroid Nike (10 Libra), named for the Greek goddess of victory, opposed (180 degrees) asteroid Oskar (6 Aries), alternate spelling of Oscar, the Academy Award’s nickname.

The pivotal importance of the Annie Hall role and her collaboration with Woody Allen in her career arc is depicted by asteroids Diana (21 Aquarius), closest to Diane, Hall (27 Aquarius) and Allen (2 Pisces), all clustered on the IC (26 Aquarius), giving them Angular (3) heft and impact.  In particular, the conjunction of Diana with Hall afforded Keaton the ability to portray the character authentically, always important in award-winning roles.  A precise conjunction of Jupiter with asteroid Annie (both at 25 Cancer) shows fame and celebrity, Jupiter-ruled, stemming from the name.

At the awards ceremony on 3 April 1978 where she won as Best Actress for “Annie Hall,” asteroid Diana (0 Sagittarius) conjoins asteroid Oskar (26 Scorpio), the latter exactly squared her natal Midheaven, a point relating to career, status and reputation.  This pair forms a Grand Cross (4), opposed asteroid Annie (4 Gemini) and a squared both asteroids Actor (3 Virgo) and Nike (4 Pisces), succinctly portraying Keaton’s Academy award (Oskar) win (Nike) as Best Actress (Actor) for the title role (Annie).

Diane Keaton’s death on 11 October 2025 highlighted her specifically, with asteroid Diana (26 Sagittarius) in a Grand Cross, squared the Saturn (26 Pisces, ancient lord of death)/Neptune (0 Aries) conjunction and a pairing of Venus (27 Virgo) and asteroid Actor (29 Virgo), opposed asteroid Anubis (21 Gemini), named for the ancient Egyptian deity governing funerary rites.  This tells the tale of the death (Saturn, Anubis) of a beloved (Venus) film (Neptune) actress (Actor) named Diane (Diana).

Diane Keaton appeared in more than fifty movies; she also directed, with four pictures to her credit.  Her performances will continue to delight film lovers of all ages.

Notes:  (1) Diane Keaton born 5 January 1946 at 2:49 AM PST in Los Angeles, California (Rodden Rating AA)

(2) A T-Square is a dynamic pattern composed of two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees), each squared (90 degrees) a third.  It represents stress and conflict, with the fulcrum point (at the square) offering a possibility of resolution.

(3) The “Angles” are the cardinal directional points, where celestial bodies rise (Ascendant) and set (descendant) at the horizon, or achieve highest (Midheaven, or MC) or lowest elevations (Nadir, or IC). Placement here signifies enhanced importance in character or biography.

(4) A Grand Cross is a major pattern comprised of four or more points at roughly 90 degrees equidistant from each other; this dynamic interaction can create stress, but also prompts action and motivates growth.
