Quadriplegic Cornhole Athlete Shoots Friend Dead

April 1, 2026

By Sue Kientz

World news has been overwhelming for months, and last week was no different, with one story in particular causing readers to wonder, how can this happen? How is this even possible? Such dismaying reactions are not unusual these days, but this was one time the person involved wasn’t Donald Trump. This serious story seemed fantastic from the start, as it involved a person known for his achievements in a professional sport, who allegedly killed one of his best friends in an argument. What was so unsettling and perplexing to people is, the 27-year-old man charged with the crime is a quadriplegic who lost all his extremities due to a near-fatal illness at 10 months old.(1) That’s right, the accused, Dayton Webber, has no arms and no legs, and no one can understand how he could commit this crime.

The answer to the question “How?!” is simple and yet unexpected. While Webber is known to wear prosthetics, he is not known to wear them in every situation. For example, while competing in his sport of choice, cornhole, where you throw bags through a hole in an angled wood target, he does not wear any prosthetics. There are videos of him throwing accurate shots by holding the bag between his arm stumps. (2) This way he feels the bag and has the most control. (3) There are also videos online of him shooting a gun by grasping it with his arm stumps. (4) He’s fast and, apparently, deadly accurate. But the much more interesting question to ask about Webber is, “Why” he suddenly made such a drastic, horrendous decision, one that not only killed a human being and his friend; this ill-conceived act looks to completely destroy the extraordinary life Webber built for himself, a life admired for his “I can do anything” spirit that, up until now, was an inspiration to others. How did he overcome so much, learning not only to walk but to drive a car, teaching himself to write, and playing sports, some at a professional level, only to fail so miserably in the blink of an eye? We can begin to see “Why” if we look to astrology to see what was going on with Dayton Webber.

Born on 23 June 1998 in La Plata, MD, (5) Webber’s birth chart clearly exhibits this childhood misfortune that led to severe disability, with his Sun (1 Cancer) semisquare (45 degrees; brings roadblocks) dwarf planet (6) Sedna (15 Taurus).(7) Sedna is prominently placed in charts of those who suffer terrible setbacks, although with persistence and resolve, some manage extraordinary achievements. His Mercury (16 Cancer), representative of his thinking, verbal expression, and ability to problem solve, is sextile (60 degrees; supportive) Sedna, signaling that while his body (Sun is symbolic of a person’s physical form and its health) was a serious hindrance, his mind was resilient and active, its Sedna temper helping to form an indomitable will.

Regarding his ability in sports, his Mars (21 Gemini), symbolic of energy and drive, is square (90 degrees; requires work and sacrifice to fulfill one’s desires) Jupiter (27 Pisces). The latter grand celestial in any position gives one a fortunate uplift to that area of life, but from all accounts, Webber did work hard and even relentlessly in all he attempted to accomplish in a number of sports. He also wrote and gave inspirational talks to encourage others that nothing was impossible when you tried, using himself as a convincing example.

This desire to help others, to show how anyone could change their lives however they wanted to, is shown by Webber’s Sun square dwarf planet Haumea (3 Libra), the third-largest Kuiper Belt celestial, which signals the ability to effect dramatic change. Haumea is found in the charts of life-saving surgeons, military leaders who hold soldiers’ lives in their hands, and people who leave everything behind for a better life, like poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning who left her family to elope with fellow poet Robert Browning. The choice was harsh, as her tyrannical father forbade her to ever see them again, but sometimes hard choices are made to live the life you most desire. With Haumea, it’s wisest to wait for the right moment to make such a change, for acting too soon and cutting rather than untying the Gordian knot, can lead to bitter regret.

All evidence points to Webber having great ambition, celestially corroborated by his Sun sextile Saturn (1 Taurus). Saturn reflects the support and encouragement of his parents (Saturn: parent or mentor) and other adults impressed by his aspirations. One negative of his Saturn placement is, the ringed planet was square Neptune (1 Aquarius), so Webber’s view of life, one might suspect, was materialistic, not spiritual or informed by a religious connection. Saturn square Neptune can indicate that one’s reality (Saturn) is not seen as connected with some underlying purpose or faith (Neptune), and one’s beliefs (Neptune) are in the here-and-now (Saturn), in work and self-striving (both Saturn). This isn’t an uncommon viewpoint, but it’s one that can be severely tested at some critical point.

Webber’s grave test came on Sunday, 22 March 2026, as he drove his Tesla SUV with his friend Bradrick Michael Wells in the front passenger seat and two other friends in back seats. An argument arose between Webber and Wells that got so toxic that Webber pulled out a handgun and shot Wells twice in the head, killing him. Webber then pulled over and asked his two other friends to help him move the body, but they refused and fled, reporting Webber to police. Meanwhile, Webber drove away and somehow removed Wells from the SUV into someone’s yard where the body was later found.

Astrology confirms this was a horrible watershed moment for Webber, with the Sun (2 Aries), Neptune (1 Aries) and Saturn (4 Aries) all square Webber’s Sun (1 Cancer), symbolic of how his hopes and dreams (Neptune), his entire world (Saturn: career, all physical achievements), and his very life (Sun) appear in ruins. The dwarf planets fill in the picture, with Varda (1 Capricorn), opposite (180 degrees; a rivalry, an illumination) his Sun, and Haumea (3 Scorpio) trine (120 degrees; fortunate, but sometimes, too easy to act) his Sun. Something about Wells’ responses hit Webber to his core, making him see (Varda, seeing beyond the physical) something he didn’t expect. Gripped with the alarming perception, perhaps desiring to change (Haumea) the situation immediately, this trips his devastating response to lash out and shoot.

What caused such a damagingly extreme reaction? Astrology doesn’t provide detail but gives us big clues. Planet Uranus (28 Taurus) was exactly conjunct (0 degrees; a change or connection) Webber’s Venus (28 Taurus) with Jupiter semisquare his Venus and conjunct (1 degree) his Mercury. Jupiter activating Venus and Mercury indicates he’s feeling very expansive about something related to Venus (money or a relationship) and wanting to talk (Mercury: communicate) about it. One would think such extreme rage unlikely to be about a debt or monetary affairs, but from recent reports, money was the cause. The two passengers have related that Webber has for a long time been paranoid about people stealing from him, and just before the shooting, Webber accused Wells of taking something from his house. (8) With Uranus, planet of sudden reversals and the urge to assert one’s individuality, exactly positioned to animate his Venus worries, Webber snapped and shot his longtime friend.

So the Sun/Neptune/Saturn afflicting his Sun in that moment reflects the aftermath of his precipitous action, the reality (Saturn) of seeing his friend dead, realization that this changes everything (Neptune), and the thing he was blind to but now sees (Varda) is, this result wasn’t worth resorting to killing (trine from Haumea: it was too easy to do, to “solve” his upset). This could be the first time Webber fails to see how more work or steadfast application of himself can ensure that he surmounts a huge challenge.

Dayton Webber was arrested in Virginia (9) and, while authorities moved to extradite him back to Maryland, Webber appears anxious to return as he waived extradition. (10) Maybe he has had time to reflect on his advice to others: “Forget what has already happened. I take each day as it comes and do not dwell on how I performed the day before … I’ve overcome difficulties and I think others can, too. For much of my life, I’ve grappled with people underestimating me because of how I look.” (11) If he can convince a jury he shot in self-defense, as he now claims, or he ends up in jail, in either case he might just continue inspiring others to believe in themselves, just by virtue of his own unabated efforts to keep moving forward.
