Trump Gets Checked by Chief Justice Roberts

March 20, 2025

By Sue Kientz

Now we know what Saturn (22 Pisces), representing tradition, authority, and rule of law, had in store for Donald Trump when it moved exactly square (90 degrees) Trump’s Sun (22 Gemini)(1) on Tuesday, March 18, a position that is symbolically chastising. That’s when Trump was admonished by the top judge in the United States, Chief Justice John Roberts.(2) Reacting to Trump and various allies posting on social media that “leftist” judges that rule against actions by Trump and his administration, should be impeached,(3) Roberts released a statement saying that “impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision.” He asserted that appealing such decisions was the proper recourse.

President Trump acted unconcerned about the obvious rebuke to himself and his followers. “[H]e didn’t mention my name,” he said dismissively to Laura Ingram of Fox News.(4) But Trump got the message. How can we be sure? Because you feel it when Saturn is square your Sun. That’s a big reality check. And that wasn’t all that poked the bear in this case: transiting Mercury (8 Aries), recently turned retrograde the other day,(5) arrived exactly square Trump’s Mercury (8 Cancer) the same day Saturn squared his Sun. Mercury represents messages, communication, and one’s thinking. When retrograde, someone’s words can be unwelcome, the reverse of what one wants to hear. Roberts’ pointed comment is going to stick and repeat in Trump’s head, making him wonder, have I alienated the Chief Justice and now have to worry when my court cases reach the Supreme Court? The vast number of lawsuits launched in Trump’s direction will indeed reach the high court, where Trump has already lost some recent close calls, thanks to his appointee Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice Roberts joining the liberal justices and voting against the president.(6)
