Bridging Distance: Miami and Caracas Reconnected After Seven Years

May 3, 2026

by Ana Andrade

On April 30, the first direct commercial flight between the United States and Venezuela in seven years marked a historic milestone in the reestablishment of air connectivity between the two countries. An American Airlines flight departed from Miami International Airport at 10:26 a.m. ET and landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport near Caracas at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time, completing a journey of just over three hours.

The significance of the event was reflected in the celebratory atmosphere at the departure gate in Miami. Passengers were welcomed with music, balloons in the colors of the Venezuelan flag, and traditional food, including arepas, creating a moment charged with emotion and symbolism. Upon arrival in Caracas, the festive tone continued, as a saxophonist performed “Theme from New York, New York,” underscoring the symbolic reconnection between the two nations. (1)

From an astrological perspective, the event reveals a series of meaningful correspondences. At the moment of departure toward Caracas, Uranus was positioned at 0 Gemini, suggesting a new beginning and the reactivation of swift connections—aptly reflected in the relatively short flight linking Miami and Caracas. This configuration was accompanied by the Moon at 27 Libra, forming a trine (120 degrees) with the natal Moon of the United States (27 Aquarius), both Moons symbolizing the people, while Venus at 7 Gemini aligned with the U.S. natal Uranus at 8 Gemini, emphasizing themes of reconnection, movement, and renewed relational dynamics.

The arrival in Caracas occurred with the Moon at 29 Libra, conjunct the cusp of the Eleventh House—traditionally associated with hope, collective aspirations, alliances, and the future—further reinforcing the symbolic nature of this reopening. (2)

In relation to Venezuela’s national chart, the transits also suggest notable resonance. The Moon at 27 Libra formed a trine with natal Mercury at 24 Gemini, facilitating communication and movement, while approaching the cusp of the Twelfth House at 28 Libra, a sector linked to confinement and restriction. In this context, the Moon may be interpreted as symbolizing a release or transition away from limitation. Simultaneously, it formed a trine with the cusp of the Fourth House (25 Aquarius), associated with homeland, roots, and ancestry, evoking themes of return and reconnection.

Jupiter at 18 Cancer created a harmonious trine with Venezuela’s natal retrograde Pluto at 18 Pisces and retrograde Uranus at 14 Scorpio, pointing toward processes of transformation, regeneration, and liberation. Additionally, Saturn at 9 Aries formed a trine with retrograde Neptune at 8 Sagittarius, symbolically bridging reality and vision—suggesting the materialization of what may once have seemed an improbable aspiration. Finally, Mercury at 25 Aries formed a trine with retrograde Saturn at 21 Sagittarius, emphasizing the concretization of movement and coordination. This alignment suggests that communication and planning (Mercury) were effectively grounded in structure and formality (Saturn), reinforcing the realization of the journey and the institutional framework that made the flight possible. At the moment of arrival, the Moon at 29 Libra occupied the Twelfth House, offering a final symbolic note: what was once restricted or confined may now begin to find expression, opening pathways for renewed travel, exchange, and connection.
