Thomas Markle

On 6 November, Thomas Markle (1), the father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was arrested in Florida and placed under house detention after being charged in connection with the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material. The material reportedly included film negatives, slides, and books suspected of containing such images. According to reports, the adult individual depicted in the images appears to be between 30 and 40 years old, suggesting that the alleged abuse may date back several decades, as Markle is now 82.

Authorities in the Philippines obtained a warrant to examine electronic devices and other materials reportedly removed from Markle’s former residence in the country. Four boxes of items, including computers, mobile phones, hard drives, and old videotapes were given to police officers by Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr.

Markle Sr. moved to the Philippines last year following a series of strokes and lived in Cebu until May. He was subsequently reported to be staying at a rehabilitation center in Florida, where he was learning to walk again after undergoing a leg amputation. (2)

From an astrological perspective, Thomas Markle’s natal chart presents several notable transits. Transiting Neptune (1 Aries) is opposing his natal Neptune at (1 Libra), while transiting Pluto (3 Aquarius) and Uranus (4 Gemini) are both forming trines to his natal Neptune. Pluto is linked to criminal behavior and Uranus with shocking events. Associated with images, photographs, and visual representations, Neptune is making these contacts particularly interesting in the context of the allegations involving photographic material.

Transiting Jupiter (25 Leo) is approaching a conjunction with his natal Jupiter (28 Leo), marking his Jupiter return. Jupiter is traditionally associated with foreign countries and international affairs, which is noteworthy given the circumstances involving both the Philippines and the United States.

Meanwhile, transiting Mercury retrograde (9 Scorpio) is forming a square to his natal Pluto (7 Leo). Mercury is associated with information, documents, and communication, while Pluto is linked symbolically to abuse, secrecy, and the exposure of hidden matters. This combination may also be considered in relation to the reported complications surrounding his mobility and personal circumstances.

Although these planetary configurations cannot establish the validity of the accusations or determine the outcome of the legal proceedings, they symbolically highlight a period of considerable deeply troubling matters in Thomas Markle’s life.
