Weekly News: Full Moon April 23rd
By Christeen Skinner
WAR AND GOLD
A study by the Royal Bank of Scotland noted that over many years, a simple trade of buying at the New and selling at the Full Moon was a profitable strategy. That report did not compare the quality of one Full Moon with another. Seasonality makes a difference. A more interesting report would be to look at both the Moon sign, its declination and the Moon’s distance from earth (which varies).
This week’s Full Moon is in Scorpio – a sign associated with financial matters. Yes, that happens every year, but in 2024, this will be the first Full Moon in over two centuries where Pluto is positioned close to the half-way point between Sun and Moon. There was no Dow Jones, Hang Seng or S&P index in operation in the 18th Century.
To find a similar Sun in Taurus-Pluto in Aquarius-Moon in Scorpio picture we have to go back to April 23rd 1777 and the American Revolutionary War when the counterfeiting of money was used a weapon of war. Might we see a repeat?
From the financial perspective, we cannot easily compare 1777 with 2024. However, we can consider another Sun in Taurus-Pluto-Moon in Scorpio picture when Pluto was on the other side of the zodiac in Leo in April 1940. Germany declared war on Norway and the price of gold reached a relative high: a very similar picture to today.
