Leaves From a Financial Astrologer’s Notebook:  Mid-Winter Check-In

February 9, 2026

By Christeen Skinner

If it seems that the world has gone mad, there might be a cosmic explanation:

With all the traditionally-recognized planets (ignoring the Kuiper Belt Objects for the moment) on one side of the Sun, solar activity has increased. Research shows that mankind experiences heightened tension at these times. The incidence of heart attacks, violence and palpable anxiety manifesting as headache and dissention increases – though so too, is there evidence of marked creativity.

I wonder if world leaders are aware that their decision-making might not be entirely rational presently? There is a lop-sidedness at work with, it seems, people choosing one side or another. Compromise and co-operation seem in short supply. The beleaguered United Nations whose chart is under considerable pressure may be left powerless. By late April we will surely hear the clamor for a new and better-balanced organization that is adequately and reliably funded.

It is worth mentioning that Uranus stations in Taurus for the last time in many decades on February 3rd and 4th – dates which could see developments that shake global finances. Set for London, UK, charts suggest the possibility of unwelcome drama.

Global financial affairs have been affected with the unmistakable tremor of cosmic change gaining traction – just look at the extraordinary movement in the price of gold and silver on January 30th! Neptune passed over the midheaven of the chart for the US Federal Reserve Bank on entering Aries earlier that week. This, together with President Trump announcing his choice for its next Chair, goes some way toward explaining those moves.

Looking at global politics, the last time that Neptune crossed into Aries, as it did on January 26th, coincided with the battle of Fort Sumter in April 1862, which is often seen as marking the start of the American Civil War. The death of the two citizens shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis is clearly marking another seminal moment. With so many planets on one side of the Sun, division is highlighted. The ‘good’ news is that the planets move on and that this planetary geometry will dissipate – hopefully before more damage is inflicted.
