Leaves From a Financial Astrologer’s Notebook: September 2026
By Christeen Skinner
You may know that a minimum of two Solar Eclipses occur each year – sometimes as many as five. You could say that the Lunar Eclipse of August 28th closes an eclipse ‘window’ – a regular rhythm every year when, between these special New and Full Moons, the geomagnetic field is altered. It is not uncommon for the earth’s crust to be affected. Earthquakes occur daily but – between eclipses – are profound and notable. The recent floods and mudslides in Nepal and Tibet are part of this theme.
We may yet see further indications of significant seismic activity around this Lunar Eclipse – especially as both Mars and Pluto are ‘out of bounds’ (1). These two planets have a reputation for violence and deep upheaval.
They reach opposition phase in early October just as the August Solar Eclipse is triggered by Jupiter’s passage over the eclipse degree, suggesting a possibly monumental climate event affecting the whole world.
TRADE WAR
Even without this possibility and even if we didn’t know it before, recent statements have made us all aware that world trade will never go back to as it was. An overhaul of agreements was perhaps overdue, but fractured relations and cumulative disputes suggest that wars of trade are escalating.
Uranus: a planet associated with the need to ‘do things differently,’ and with politics (!), is at apparent right angle to the Lunar Eclipse and, as well as being prepared for the literal Earth to move, we might also see evidence of a political earthquake as a leader’s power wanes. We should also watch for stress in the banking system that could carry wider global repercussions.
EQUITIES, GOLD AND SILVER
Recall that although the cosmos never delivers exact repeats, it is useful to go back nineteen years, to a similar eclipse period. Then the financial world was at the precipice of disaster. Might we be nearing the edge of another?
My guiding maxim before making any forecast is that there should be four or five cosmic clues to support the claim. With Neptune at the Uranus/Pluto midpoint and Chiron in early Taurus, Mars and Pluto out of bounds and in parallel (2) as Vesta (trader’s asteroid) aspects the Jupiter/Saturn midpoint, it would come as no surprise if markets tumbled.
At this Lunar Eclipse the Moon is in Pisces. Statistics reveal that the price of gold or silver is likely to be high at this time in most months. August 28th is unlikely to be an exception – though I doubt that the highs of late January will be repeated. The price could fall again in the coming weeks with a period later this year affording good buying opportunities.
FOOD
You can’t eat gold and we should all be alert to the possibility of increased food shortages. With fertilizer at a premium and a severe El Nino pattern pointing to the high probability that 2027 will be exceptionally hot, crops may be less plentiful or affordable through the next years. The wise investor should put as much effort into food production and security as they do into high tech development.
Notes: (1) An out-of-bounds planet in astrology is a planet whose declination (its angular distance north or south of the Earth’s equator) moves beyond the maximum path of the Sun, which is 23 degrees and 27 minutes.
(2) In astrology, parallel planets are two planets that sit at the same degree of declination (north or south) relative to the celestial equator, behaving very similarly to a conjunction.
