Leaves from a Financial Astrologer’s Notebook:  October 2026

The recent eclipses reverberate……

On October 3^rd, Jupiter crosses the degree of the recent Solar Eclipse (August 12^th at 20 Leo), reactivating its themes just as Mars and Pluto reach the opposition phase of their cycle.

The planets act like instruments in an orchestra, each playing a particular note at a particular moment. Early October’s chords promise to be loud and brassy, punctuated by cymbal crashes—a percussion-led cacophony that will be difficult to ignore. Jupiter takes the role of concertmaster, prolonging the drum roll and building towards a crescendo.

What should we expect? Perhaps a legal storm, with opposing sides defending positions taken since the August eclipse and demanding their rights. Or, if we think positively, this alignment could bring agreements, treaties and peace. Let’s hope!

That said, Jupiter is also associated with publishing and journalism. We can therefore expect established views to be challenged and libel suits to become the order of the day. Those themes are already emerging.

Add Mercury and Venus transiting Scorpio to the planetary picture, and digging deep to unearth unpleasant truths seems more likely than not.

EQUITIES

Market valuations will surely be affected, and long-overdue corrections may occur. The recent Lunar Eclipse (August 28^th at 4 Pisces) mirrored one in 2007 that heralded the collapse of Northern Rock and the subsequent decline in the indices. On that occasion, Saturn’s transit across the Lunar Eclipse degree triggered negative moves.

This time is different. Mars—which might describe military action—could provide the trigger, although it does not cross the relevant degree until the December New Moon.

In the days leading up to the next Full Moon (October 26^th), Uranus—associated with events beyond the usual comfort zone—forms a right angle to the Lunar Eclipse degree. This transit coincides with Mercury stationing retrograde on Saturday, October 24^th, and Venus returning to Libra while retrograde. Together, these movements suggest days of reckoning, perhaps including sudden market lows as the Sun passes through the early degrees of Scorpio.

VENUS

The final Scorpio Venus Star Point of our lifetime happens on October 23–24, 2026 and marks the closing of a roughly century-long cycle of Scorpio Venus alignments that began in 1930. It could be argued that this last Star Point signals the demise of hard currencies.

MONEY and CRYPTO

Elon Musk and others have stated that the days of money as we have known it are drawing to their close. The crypto age is linked to the Saturn-Uranus cycle. Those two planets begin a new cycle early in the next decade and at a degree not too far from a Cardinal point and opposite the Galactic Centre. These are still early days, and regulation of cryptos is still in infancy.

Cryptos will surely gain ground in the coming decades. To operate they require energy. They are vulnerable to disturbance in solar activity. At the UAC conference in Chicago, my colleague, Oner Doser and I presented the first pre-publication copies of our book Solar Rhythms. We hope that this will be available shortly.  For now, we are keeping a close eye on solar storms and potential effect on satellite efficiency.

PRECIOUS METALS

At the Lunar Eclipse in 2007, gold was trading at around $680; by the end of that year, it was closer to $840. There is no guarantee of a similar rise this year, although other cosmic signals suggest a possible increase. As in 2018, Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio, the Sign associated with mining. At the start of that retrograde, gold was priced at around $1,280. By the time Venus reached neighboring Sagittarius in early January, the price was touching $1,300. In neither case was the rise linear, but the overall direction was one of growth. We may see a similar pattern when comparing the price of gold at the start of this quarter with its price at the beginning of the next.
