The New Moon’s Energetic News: Aries – 17 April 2026
By Lynne Hyde
The Piscean cycle has passed, and our endings have faded behind us; there is no turning back anymore. We now find ourselves in the burning flames of Aries and the days are blasting us forward into our ruthless beginnings. We must wake up quickly and desert our hovering feelings and move fervently into bold action. The transition from the last cycle in the zodiac into the beginning of the zodiac is challenging…
We have six of the ten planets, plus the important healing centaur body Chiron, all piled up in Aries, the first Sign, as this stage in the astrological circle births itself. This lineup is highly unusual. Neptune and Saturn joined at the zero degree of Aries mark back on February 20th and now, almost two months later, we have Mercury, Mars, the Sun, Moon and Chiron aligning at this “overly potent” point. The archetype of Aries energy is an impulsive need to start, begin and commence something new. It’s blindless creative energy that needs to arise from nothingness and form into something. It’s the raw life force behind all birth. It’s the will to live and the thriving to strive. It’s the formidable center of the atom. It’s the almighty molecule of manifestation that can’t be held back by anything…
Mars, the planet of war, rules Aries and entered the fiery domain a week ago. The planet has implicit strength in Aries and lands in this part of the zodiac every two years. Since Mars left passive Pisces and moved into forceful Aries, time seems to be rapidly speeding up, accelerating. Traffic on the streets is fast and furious. Fights flare up like combustible gas and events escalate out of control, then suddenly fall back into place, in a flash. The idea of a peace plan in the Middle East properly being negotiated and carefully set in stone was sure to fail with this impatient, fiery dominant energy beating through the spheres above us. “As Above, So Below” not only reflects and echoes but now demands, like a beating drum of insistence. Astrologers around the globe anticipated war with the alignment of Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Now, sadly to say, with five other bodies joining in this radical hot zone, hope for our lives to return to as they once were, has quickly and instantly vanished.
What’s most talked about on the astrological stage right now is that fact that Mars and Saturn, considered the two malefic planets in the zodiac, will join April 19th, two days after this New Moon, at 7 degrees of Aries. The joining is not unusual (happens every two years) but meeting side by side and amplifying each other in the warrior Sign of Aries, occurs only every twenty-nine to thirty years. Mercury, the planet of communication, will stand stridently like an armed guard by both their sides. Be careful of your words, be watchful of your dismal thoughts, take account of the “report card of life” that you are handed at this time, as we all must pay our dues. Saturn is the strict, serious grandfather that watches over us with high expectations. Mars is the angry, narcissistic teenager that revolts. This day and the few days before and after this time are looked upon as direly explosive. We will witness the darkest part of the month’s and the year’s passage here. Crossing through this planetary “strait” may unravel serious consequences that need to be faced. Once Mars moves ahead of Saturn the pressure should lighten and we should be able to pick up the pieces of consequences that were crumbled on the poor planet and in our faltering personal lives. The “strait” will hopefully open up afterward…
Aries time is not just combative, but affords tremendous courage, and a will to do what’s right within us and around us. We can be bold and directed to take on things that we never imagined possible. Projects of building and digging deeply into core issues can be unearthed and moved into the bright, white light. There is tremendous movement forward and an ability to resolve problems. There are no blockades this month and no planets retrograde until May 6th. This is a rare productive time of possibility. Take this shiny, silver bolt of available free energy and take a risk; you will feel the congratulatory applause of the gods lifting you.
Uranus has been breathing heavily upon the last few degrees of Taurus for ages now. The planet of chaos and unexpected change has brought sudden reversals to our financial stability and to the realm of food security, which Taurus oversees. He leaves the earthy Sign, haven shaken up the foundation of safety in the world and on the Taurean lands that he has been ruling for the last, long eight years. He departs the earthiness and enters the airy realm of Gemini on April 24th. This is the last of the planetary Sign changes at this time and we will now discover and settle into a new reality. The Air Sign signifies the realm of Artificial Intelligence, and we enter knowing unexpected change will rattle our too busy minds, our news channels and our daily, hectic communications. Chaos is moving up and out from the gentle earth and is flying into the mentally dualistic winds.
It’s also a time of healing with the wounded wings of Chiron embracing, just a degree apart, the heart of the Sun and Moon’s newness. Chiron, a centaur body, is almost considered a planet in astrology now because its effects on “individuation” are so profound. It was discovered and identified in 1977, and since then the baby boomer generation has grown up with psychiatry and self-discovery and the understanding that we all hold specific, private wounds within. With Chiron; the wounded warrior, standing like a direct messenger, heralding in this New Moon, where it hasn’t been for the last fifty-one years, “share your vulnerability, ask for a tonic for anxiety, see your therapist”. Let’s envision that the wounded warrior will discretly use Aries power to help passionately heal ourselves and the fractured, fragile world that surround us. It’s our possibility for hope right now …
