The New Moon’s Energetic News:  Pisces – 18 March 2026

March 18, 2026

by Lynne Hyde

The eclipse season has passed. We are left with bombed buildings lying in mounds of grey ash, piled high in the streets of the Mideast; and smoke plumes, etched like inky, black exclamation points of despair, striking the aching skies above. Roofs are ripped off, like tops of cheap metal cans, from the tornadoes’ destruction that have whiplashed across the Midwest. Record breaking amounts of snow have blanketed the Northeast and icy cold has descended, paralyzing our psychic life force, even in wintertime Florida.

The Earth is rebelling and retaliating, brutally and sadly … far and wide; with the eclipse being squared by Uranus, chaos was unleashed. Saturn and Neptune joined arms and angrily stomped into the red, fiery flames of Aries and war impulsively, suddenly exploded. Devastation was born. Now the eclipses have vanished, leaving their scorched scars etched onto the vulnerable lands and into the innocent hearts across the globe. The alarm that calamity has begun, is loudly and tragically ringing…

The Aquarian winds have ceased blowing and hopefully our worried minds will somehow slow down too. We have been feeling the tender empathy of Pisces, as many of the planets, including the Sun, have been travelling through the deep-water ways that are filled with impressionable sentimentality. Mercury turned retrograde February twenty-sixth in Pisces, creating confusion and tears, emphasizing the Sign’s Mutable messages. We are so familiar with the raw sensitivity, as Saturn and Neptune were living in in the last Sign of the zodiac for so many years.

Now with them gone, since February twentieth, we have one last gasp of fragile emotion moving through us, signaling to our cores, that we have no other choice but to let go, as the astrological year finally comes to an end. We stand shakingly, swimming aimlessly, while witnessing our personal friends, our beloved relatives, and the dear anonymous TV images of young children and old grandmothers dying, leaving the human dimension around us. We face life that leads to death; the two-sided coin that inevitably and forever is vacillating. Pisces is the Sign in the zodiac, this is the time of year, when we need to contemplate, try to make peace with our eventual transition between the two realms, the two worlds …

Presently, the Moon is joining the Sun at twenty-eight degrees of Pisces, hovering right near the last degree of the Zodiac, signaling we have arrived at the absolute completion point. It’s time to move on and we know it in our gut. In the month before us, we are asked, with Mercury passing over these final degrees three times, what do we need to end? What do we need to put behind us now? What behavior, what habit, what feeling, what indulgence do we need to separate from?

We have gotten a taste of the future roaring before us with Saturn and Neptune’s entrance into Aries, the first Sign of the zodiac, and we have the next thirty days to gather our belongings, tidy the space and pack our bags carefully. A thorough review of what has happened and how we honestly feel, to gain understanding, will aid us now. Pisces is gentle, searches for meaning, grows in kindness and easily loses its way…It’s more comfortable in illusion than in reality. We may subtly notice “guilt” creeping in the solitary shadows around us. To help, our porous boundaries will need to be strengthened, and we will gain momentum and power with our courage and ability to say ‘NO.’

The aspects between the planets are few. We have the North Node, Mercury and Mars close together in Pisces in a favorable trine to Jupiter in Cancer. We will want to share and need to confide our feelings, our dualistic doubts and our spiritual passions with those we meet, to feel connected. We may be fortunate in our transactions, with Jupiter recently turning direct; even more so, if we can hold off on important decisions until after March twentieth when Mercury finally moves forward. The crazy three-steps-forward, two-steps-backward dilemma should end, and steadiness will more easily find us, after then.

Jupiter in Cancer may guide us toward house projects and real estate deals, yet with its stressful square to Venus in Aries, we may need to be careful not to overspend. Financial concerns could grow this month, and Cancerian safety needs to be consciously chosen to hold back the impulsive “I want to get it done, no matter what” stance of Venus’ placement in Aries.

We have Water and Fire this cycle, and that usually creates steam. Neptune, Saturn, Venus and wounded Chiron are all in Aries and all the rest of the planets, except for Uranus in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius, are in Water.  The two elements don’t mix well with each other. Anger from hurt may arise and impulsiveness based on fear may occur.

It’s very odd, un-synthesized and uncoordinated to start a New Moon and in a few breaths, days later, have the Sun move into the next Sign, but that is what we are in the midst of and have been for many past months. We start the New Moon at the very end of the Sign and then are heralded into the next Sign and the new element. That may be why we feel out of sorts and life moves forward leaving most of ourselves behind.

Have you noticed how the pace of life keeps pushing, there are no downstream easy breaks, and we are constantly running simply to get “caught up”? This cycle may amplify that even more, as we will be birthing the Piscean flowing streams that are concerned with feelings, empathy, passivity, beauty and endings; and then two and a half days later on the morning of March twenty-first the Spring Equinox will blast down upon us in a fiery cry for birth, action and renewal. The opposite energies are like two extreme weather fronts, warm meets cold, colliding, producing storms.

The Spring Equinox, when the Sun moves into the most powerful degree of Aries, where Saturn and Neptune just aligned, is now in view. The energy will switch, could convulse as we move into a moment with the majority of the planets in the wild Fire Sign of Aries and impulsive, heated starts. The urge to be, to be born, to create and to dominate may grow large. I pray for the planet; I pray our us all; and I pray that the urgent life force will protect itself…
