The New Moon’s Energetic News: Leo

The heat is on for this New Moon of July 24, 2025, as the Sun and Moon join in the blazing Fire Sign of Leo. Our passions are bold and creative and our will to live is strong now as this powerful and expansive new cycle begins. Feisty and courageous energy burns away the unresolved past and makes us forget the tender and tangled emotions that have been in circulation throughout the watery Cancer times we have been wading through. Life’s astrological rhythm is so perfectly designed that energizing fire and spirit follow vulnerable water and feeling, as life wants us to process and intuitively sense what’s within. It then generously supports us to rise to the surface from the complicated, sensitive depths and simply go after what we want. We are free “To Be” as August approaches and we are able to move with the exotic and erotic music of the moment; in a flash, we surprisingly feel enthralled and elated again. Leo loves fun and celebration and most of all needs to indulge in experiencing its own creativity. It’s the energy of the “child within” and as summer nights are long and the light lasts forever, take a risk at making something, that’s all your own.  Artistry, no matter how small and minute it is, will lift us. The act will soften and massage our stiffness and weave silk into our tired bones, as Leo is liveliness! This is the time in the twelve-fold cycle where we need to become the actor on the stage, the poet in the writing, the color and texture in the paint. We need to shed our smallness and stand in the center of our world. We need to become “Leo the Lion” and own our honorable regality, being the king of our personal jungle, knowing we can proudly protect, initiate and generate…           

The times are still tricky as Mercury turned retrograde, also in the Sign of Leo, just a few days ago, on July 17^th. Have you noticed the steam of confusion rising unexpectedly around you, your intentions thwarted by delays with odd stops and starts? When Mercury appears to be moving backwards, we need to allow extra time, reduce our expectations and let the inherent “Pause”, play with us. Saturn and Neptune just recently galloped into Aries, giving us a taste of what’s to come, but have also stationed retrograde, and will both inch their way back into Pisces in the fall, when we will need to tie up loose ends and finish our long dangling past. Pluto has halted too and sits at two degrees, taking his first breath, while overseeing his new lands of Aquarius. The summer is stretched into suspension where we feel the future but can’t quite climb up on its back. There is still something to consider and to wait for, as four of the ten planets are hesitating and limply waffling in reverse motion. We step forward and then need to step back. Try to accept this motion of hovering and trust we will eventually get somewhere.    

Almighty Pluto stands with sword in hand, exactly opposing the Sun and the Moon, challenging the month’s unfoldment, threatening potential violence and destruction. Storms and war possibly at our doors?  Pluto is a force that reveals the dark, subversive, shadow side of life. Fear of our fatality, and that of those we love, while pondering mortality and immortality, may secretly haunt us. Some form of necessary transformation may partner with the innocent joviality of this Leo cycle. There is darkness lingering under the brightness, subtly reminding us of the depth and demands of life and death. We are aware of our impermanence with Pluto so prominently present right now.

Mars that represents masculine energy and Venus that symbolizes the feminine archetype are in a difficult aspect with one another, being ninety degrees apart. Even though we are in a time of expressive play we may be at odds in our relationships. Mars in fussy Virgo is at a crossroad with scattered and divided Venus in Gemini. There may be confusion in communication, battles with our words and obsession in our thoughts. We need to give the male and female sides of ourselves the space to run free and build a bridge to connect our inner and outer yards, not a fence to divide them.

So, it’s time to applaud and take in and give out the “Joy of Life”.  This is an exuberant and bountiful time in the astrological cycle. Life wants us to “Go for it all” and not hold anything back. It’s now or never to take the radical dive into BEINGHOOD. We have not had this chance in zillions of ages, if ever.  With Uranus and Neptune both taking their first step into red-hot passionate Aries that’s now in perfect and exact aspect to this valiant, dashing New Moon in Leo we have a once in a lifetime possibility to fully manifest our Life’s exquisite fortune.
