The New Moon’s Energetic News: Virgo (again!)
by Lynne Hyde
There must be a lot of work and organizing that needs to get done, as we have another New Moon in detail-oriented Virgo, on 21 September 2025. We have been given two cycles to do what the archetypal energy of Virgo requires, which is using discernment in being productive and practical. The Sun and Moon will join together at the very last degree of Virgo. The twenty-ninth degree of any Sign is critical. In astrology it’s called an “anaretic” degree and it’s considered karmic. When a planet is positioned here, we are left suspended, hanging in the liminal space between endings and beginnings, with little power to shape things. It’s the last exhale of the Sign and it’s a place in the zodiac where destiny can silently hover, infuse itself and breathe in. It’s not an easy or simple place for the Sun and Moon to try to birth a new cycle but it’s where, now, we must look deeper, accept the complexity and begin the endings that are taking place all over the world and in our own tiny lives …
This New Moon is also a partial Solar Eclipse. Solar Eclipses are powerful lunations that magnify events on Earth. Have you noticed the amplitude of incidents spilling out ceaselessly, splashing carelessly, all over the news, since the last Full Moon which was a total Lunar Eclipse? Have you been watching wide-eyed and shocked in disbelief at the world drastically changing around us? Eclipses, when the Sun, Moon and Earth line up, manifest as sudden turns in humanity’s direction. Leaders die, countries fall, wars begin and new orientations shakily appear before us. It’s a time of escalating uncertainty that can take several months to unfold, a time of temporary insecurity. Being aware of astrology’s guiding dictum of “As above, so below” will enable you to allow, accept and let go. Eclipses stain the earth and leave their indelible, inky mark on the canvas of history. We are in that impactful printing now as destiny takes shape and unfolds. It’s a good time to watch, carefully listen and go slow…
This eclipse is an especially tough one; not only is it at the final, fateful last degree but it’s also directly across the zodiac, in opposition to Saturn and Neptune, the planets of contraction and confusion. Saturn and Neptune coming together are the decomposing of the stable structures that surround us. Saturn represents authoritative strictness and Neptune wants to dissolve, add smoke and mystify anything it touches. Its purpose is to take us from the concrete physical dimension to the spiritual. It wants us to grow faith and to trust. Saturn wants us to hold tight, solidify and create security. What a dilemma this joining of contradictory purposes creates! With the eclipse exactly across from this conjunction, we may experience the intensifying of the steamy turmoil that’s been on our planet, since these two outer planets moved close to each other. The eclipse is revealing, shedding light, making all aware of the societal collapse that’s occurring around the globe, for which these two planets are responsible.
The Sun, Moon and Earth being eclipse-linked in “perfection-seeking” Virgo want to determinedly fix the mess! Personally, we need to be careful of becoming “obsessive” and having to get everything just right, as October creeps in. Saturn and Neptune are both retrograde and won’t re-enter Aries, the Sign of new starts, until next spring. As the Fall season launches with this Eclipse and the grand Equinox that follows, barely 24 hours later, when the Sun moves into the potent zero degree of Libra, we will begin a” final end to an era”. We will need to be patient in initiating any new major start until Saturn, Neptune and Uranus turn direct and enter their new Signs and finally build their modern homes in Aries and Gemini. They will settle in to these zodiac estates for the next two-and-a-half to fourteen years. We all will be better able to move forward with new directions, next spring.
Mars and Pluto are also in a stressful square to one another and this has the astrological community worried. Wars and violence can be the outcome and tangled tensions can become explosive. It’s extreme energy, hot and boiling with Mars moving into Scorpio, the place where it is at home and can most freely express power and rage, the day after the New Moon. Don’t be surprised if all hell breaks loose sometime around the 23rd to 25th of September. Be sure to drive carefully. Also, we may find fierce determination standing strong within us, and we could climb Mount Everest now. We may not have the patience we want, but we will have the tenacity we need.
So last cycle we started at zero degrees of Virgo and now we start at twenty-nine degrees, the last speck of the Sign and the specific intentions that Virgo has. The wind can blow and raise your sails by: continuing to de-clutter your house and your world, by simplifying; focusing on your health, where major headway can take place now. Eat well, exercise, take stock of the supplements you need to order and stay with taking care of the details that haunt your everyday life. If you get lost along the way this cycle, embrace “service,” as Virgo does a lot better helping others than itself. The Bottom Line of the NEW MOON’S ENERGETIC NEWS is – COMPLETION!
