The New Moon’s Energetic News: Gemini – 14 June 2026
By Lynne Hyde
The “unexpected” guest that brought “unexpected” events has been knocking on the doors of our lives since May twenty-second when the Sun joined Uranus, in the Sign of Gemini, for the first time in eighty- four years. Have you noticed that there are more twists and turns around every corner and that you don’t quite feel sure what will show up next? Have you experienced that your trust in life being kind and steady is wobbling and you fear that at any moment something may drop into your life that is shattering? This is Uranus in Gemini, and change is in high gear, as Uranus is the king of change, with the Sign of Gemini always about two alternate courses, two different choices and two different outcomes. This section of the zodiac, and the Gemini cycle we are entering, is about duality and the “Yin and Yang” of life – being able to be light enough to ride the mutable, reshuffling waves, that surround us…
The Sun and Moon join here now, amplifying what we have begun to experience this past month. The New Moon in Gemini requires flexibility, adaptability and freedom to change our minds. The energy we are currently in is always moving like flickering air in the wind that shifts direction with each slight breeze. It’s unpredictable, mentally exhausting (from too much thinking), and anything but stable. Gemini is about being in constant consideration; allowing the fluctuations and making the endless turnings okay, and also about seeking and trusting answers that come from clear, analytical thought.
To successfully journey through the month ahead the heavens would advise us to: seek advice and inquiry; talk out our ceaseless worries to others, in order to lighten our load; and see the two alternating sides of situations. Write, with dedication in the mornings, as the sun boldly rises and your hesitation slowly quivers; list the pros and cons of important decisions and then pause, let go, and ask the current winds to blow in the right direction for all concerned. Gemini requires rumination, examination and communication…
There are few tight aspects in this opening chart, which tells us the next four weeks may be less dramatic, more like keeping your head above water and not drowning, then moving forward with your plan, when you can. Yet important, vital planetary transitions will take place, as the month unfolds and the northern hemisphere’s Summer Solstice will soon, magnificently be born. The strongest, closest signature is the square (challenging) that is approaching between Uranus and the Moon’s nodes, which will be exact in a few days. The Moon’s nodes (the path of the Moon that intercepts the orbit of the Sun) are about relationships with family and the significant others in your life. Uranus brings sudden unexpected upsets and shifting directions here. Elderly family members suddenly beginning to slip away, friends receiving a cancer diagnosis out of nowhere, your brother being kicked out of a needed rehab facility for no sane reason and people flipping like crazy coins onto their other, overreactive sides. World events, also reversing, manifesting like surprising lightning bolts out of the still sky: earthquakes striking, ceasefires ending – it’s been building for a week. This adds to the sense that we are living on a trembling edge that can suddenly erupt and leave us stranded somewhere we hadn’t imagined. Powerfully, it could also have the amazing effect of helping us to break out of old, crusty patterns and conditions that we have been stuck in for ages, and setting us startingly free. The energy is about radical breakdowns and breakthroughs…
Chiron, a planetary body symbolizing healing and our personal individuation, has been in the Sign of Aries for approximately eight years, since June of 2018. We have been in an aggressive, fiery fight to find ourselves and carve out a specific identity from the masses; we have probably felt isolated. Now moving into the Sign of Taurus (until June of 2034), our focus needs to shift into embracing our value, our self-worth and healing the wound of our financial insecurity. Astrologers are concerned with food and resource shortages, as Taurus is about practical security and survival. The good news is we may be better able to slow down now.
Jupiter, the benefic planet of expansion, travels around the sun in a twelve-year cycle. It has been in the emotional, Water Sign of Cancer since last June, where it does well and has enabled us to share intimacy, care, and remembering, which has nurtured ourselves and others. We’ve excelled on beautifying and renovating our homes and real estate has continued to be what everyone is fervently after. Now the light and glitter shines on Leo, where Jupiter will move into on June thirtieth. This encourages us to cradle our creativity, as the passionate fire of Leo has to proudly “make things,” longing to bring something out of nothing, into existence. It has the brilliance to conjure something unique and new. Take an art class, rearrange flowers, sit at your forgotten piano with your forgotten dreams, become a child again and remember what you’ve always wanted to do. Leo is about enjoyment, having fun and celebrating the mere fact of being alive. It’s time to throw wonderful, carefree, spontaneous parties this summer – everyone will feel and be revived from the fresh glory.
We are now entering, with this New Moon, an oncoming Mercury retrograde cycle. Mercury will turn retrograde on June twenty-ninth at twenty-six degrees of Cancer. We are beginning to feel the wobble as the shadow period is just beginning to shiver, as the sliver of newness opens. Mercury is now at eighteen degrees and will turn direct at sixteen degrees, July twenty-third. The “shadow period” as it is called, is because Mercury will travel over sixteen to twenty-six degrees of Cancer two times. This means we mentally travel over the same Mercurial territory, needing to process and assimilate what that section of the zodiac holds. It has just begun to become fuzzy. Mercury is the planet of communication and Cancer is the sign of sensitivity and sentimentality. Emotions will run deep; our vulnerability may be raw and tender at the surface and everyone needs to feel and make sure they are understood. Take care and nurture yourself, and try to keep life as simple as possible, as complications typically arise while Mercury moves backwards. This astrological time band wraps itself around us softly, encouraging us to pause, safely.
Summer is born and the days are long. Gemini stirs our social soup with a spoon of good-tasting desire. Send a text, pick up the phone, write an email and know that we all need to feel and be truly connected now …
