Mars-Uranus Conjunction Fallout

July 9, 2026

By Alex Miller

Mars and Uranus link arms roughly every two years, and the meet-up always provokes celestial fireworks.  Mars and Uranus are both about energy, with Mars also ruling such things as sports, the military and sex, and Uranus’ bailiwick including controversy, shocks, technology and extremes.  As these two came together on 4 July 2026, America’s 250th birthday, the US was definitely a prime target for the cosmic shenanigans.

Such was the case, with extreme (Uranus) heat (Mars) in the triple digits plaguing the semi quincentennial celebrations in the nation’s capital, including an evening evacuation of the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington DC, due to concerns over violent (Mars) storms with lightning (with electricity also Uranus-ruled).

That comparatively benign manifestation can be seen as simply emblematic of more serious issues to come, and many of those were dished out in the days surrounding the exact conjunction, with the two still well within orb of each other.

On July 2 and 3, Russia and Ukraine exchanged more blows, with Moscow raining down the largest missile strike of their four-year-old war on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on the 2nd, and Ukraine responding on the following day with one of their largest drone swarms, attacking a vital oil terminal in St. Petersburg.  High tech (Uranus) weaponry (Mars) is one outworking of this pairing, and a trine (120 degrees) from the Mars/Uranus conjunction (3 Gemini) to asteroid Russia (9 Libra) funnels that energy to the combatants, with Russia also semisquare (45 degrees) asteroids Ukraina (22 Leo), named for Ukraine, and Kiev (24 Leo), the older, anglicized spelling of the Ukrainian capital, depicting their conflict.

Martial technology and Ukraine was a recurring theme of the period, repeated on July 8th, when US President Donald Trump agreed to grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot Missiles for themselves, a defensive anti-ballistic technology that had been requested for years.  Donald Trump’s change of heart on the issue may be reflected in asteroid Donn’s (27 Leo) conjunction with asteroids Ukraina and Kiev, suggesting a closer alignment.

A sports (Mars) controversy (Uranus) emerged over that weekend, when Trump personally intervened in the FIFA World Cup, being held in the US, by calling FIFA president Gianni Infantino to request that a red card be revoked for a US player, allowing him to compete in an important “knockout round” match with Belgium.  At the US/Bosnia-Hercegovina match on July 1, US top-scoring striker Folarin Balogun had been given a one-game suspension, which would have sidelined him for the July 6th match with Belgium.  Trump requested a “review” of the ruling, which was duly overturned, creating a global controversy (such revisions are extremely rare at the World Cup, the last occurrence being in 1962).

As matters transpired, Trump ruffled soccer fans for nothing, with Belgium rolling over the US team regardless of Balogun’s reinstatement, in a 4-1 massacre on July 6th.  Afterward, Belgium players mocked Trump, mimicking his trademark stiff-armed dance moves, and a team social media posting that read “Overturn this.”  The Belgian victory is easy to discern cosmically, with the Sun of the match (14 Cancer) conjoined asteroids Victoria (9 Cancer), named for the Roman goddess of victory, and Belgica (13 Cancer), named for Belgium, prefiguring the Belgian team’s win.  As well, the solar grouping is trine to pair of stationing (1) asteroids, Nike (14 Scorpio) and Fuss (16 Scorpio), embedding (station) Belgium’s victory (Nike, named for the Greek goddess of victory) and commemorating the surrounding controversy (Fuss).  Donald Trump’s direct outreach to Gianni Infantino is seen as asteroid Donn (27 Leo) semisquare asteroid Gianni (15 Cancer), also conjunct the Sun and squared (90 degrees) by Saturn (14 Aries), symbolizing Trump’s attempted use of the power of the presidency (Saturn) to influence the World Cup outcome.

That so many stories from this conjunction window should involve the US is advertised by the Mars/Uranus close square to asteroid America (4 Virgo), focusing much of its energies on the global superpower.  A resumption of open hostilities with Iran was another manifestation of the energy, with the US escalating air strikes on Iran on July 8th, in retaliation for Iranian attacks on merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz the day before.  Questioned about the escalation at the NATO Summit in Turkey, Trump replied in regards to the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran, “I think it’s over.”

Mars/Uranus hit closer to home on July 6th, when Democratic US Senate nominee Graham Platner’s campaign was rocked by allegations of sexual assault from a former girlfriend, Jenny Racicot.  The embattled candidate for Maine’s senate seat, who had already weathered controversies concerning a Nazi-related tattoo, prior Reddit posts of a racist and misogynist nature, a sexting scandal shortly after his marriage, and allegations of rough physical contact with former girlfriends, found the newest allegations overwhelming, and Platner suspended his campaign two days later.

The sexual (Mars) controversy (Uranus) reared its ugly head with the Mars/Uranus conjunction (3 Virgo) in a T-Square (2) with asteroid Graham (7 Virgo) opposed (280 degrees) asteroid Jenny (9 Pisces), drawing accused and accuser very personally into its attendant drama.  Adding fuel to the fire is asteroid Eurydice (4 Virgo), named for a mythic rape victim, conjoining Graham, perhaps adding mute testimony to the veracity of the allegation.

In these and countless other ways, the power of the Mars-Uranus conjunction is displayed, for all to see, who know where to look.

Notes:  (1) Stations are periods when, from our perspective on Earth, a planet appears to slow its movement, come to a standstill, and reverse course.  This is an optical illusion created by the triangulation between the sun, Earth, and any third celestial body; astrologically, it represents a focusing of the energies associated with that point, and often coincides with major life events or a radical recalibration of how that point has functioned previously.

(2) A T-Square is a dynamic pattern composed of two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees), each squared (90 degrees) a third.  It represents stress and conflict, with the fulcrum point (at the square) offering a possibility of resolution.
