Pope Francis Hospitalized

February 17, 2025

by Alex Miller

On Friday, 14 February 2025, Pope Francis, spiritual head of some one-and-a-quarter billion Catholics globally, was hospitalized in Rome for persistent bronchitis.  The Pope, who has had several health crises in recent years, including abdominal surgery in 2023, had been struggling with a respiratory infection for a week before admittance to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic, Rome’s largest medical center.

Several celestial indicators of the event are to be found in the skies for the day, including a close conjunction of asteroid Francis (0 Aries) with Neptune (28 Pisces), ruling hospitalization, opposed asteroid Pappos (5 Libra), cognate with Papa, Italian for “pope.”  That bold cosmic statement of “Pope (Pappos) Francis (Francis) in the hospital (Neptune)” encapsulates the situation in a nutshell, but the astrological “rule of three” applies here, a concept stating that for an event to actually manifest from latent potential, there must be three complimentary elements that prefigure it.

Our second indicator of trouble in St Peter’s Square is asteroid Vaticana, named for the Roman hill atop which Vatican City is built, and thus representing the papacy generally.  At 18 Gemini, Vaticana is exactly squared (90 degrees) to Saturn (18 Pisces), conjoined asteroid Asclepius at 15 Gemini, and opposed (180 degrees) asteroid Apollo (22 Sagittarius), forming a T-Square pattern which conveys dynamism and stress.  Saturn suggests some form of restriction or limitation, a withdrawal, while both Asclepius and Apollo are noted as deities involving health, medicine and healing, again linking the pope with medical issues restricting his movement.  Saturn is also regarded as the ancient lord of death, and in an earlier age, a respiratory infection of this nature in a man of the Pope’s age (Francis tuned 88 last December) could prove fatal, though the risk of that today is minimal given modern medicine, unless some further complication should set in.

As Pope, Francis is also the Bishop of Rome, and asteroids Bishop (2 Gemini) and Roma (20 Cancer, Italian name for the Eternal City) feature in the third pattern describing the circumstances.  Semisquare (45 degrees) each other, both also interact with a pairing of Mercury and Damocles at 0 and 1 Pisces (Bishop by square, Roma by sesquiquadrate, a 135-degree aspect).  This pattern depicts news (Mercury) of a looming threat or peril (Damocles) to Francis in his capacity as Bishop of Rome (Bishop, Roma), thus fulfilling the requisite “rule of three.”

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on 12 December 1936, Pope Francis’ moment in the spotlight is confirmed on a more intimate basis by asteroid George (English language equivalent of the Spanish Jorge), which at 26 Scorpio is exactly squared the highlighting Sun at 26 Aquarius for his hospitalization.  A period of crisis is foretold by the prior Solar Eclipse, which at 10 Libra on 2 October 2024 fell exactly squared to the Pope’s natal Ascendant of 10 Cancer, affecting how he is seen by the public.  That eclipse also conjoined natal asteroid Agostino at 15 Libra, suggesting a prominence in the ensuing six months for persons or places resonant with that name; in this case, that would be the Agostino Gemelli hospital to which Francis was taken.  Remarkably, asteroid Agostino in the sky had reached 10 Libra, exactly conjoined the fall eclipse degree, when the pontiff was admitted.
