Lunar Eclipse in Pisces: Cosmic Trump Card?
By Alex Miller
On the night of August 27-28, 2026, the moon will experience a partial eclipse, as it enters the umbral shadow of the Earth, obscuring the full illumination of the sun on its surface. As a partial eclipse, the moon will not disappear entirely, but will change color to a dim, deep red color, with 96% of its surface darkened, leaving only a slender crescent of brightness. The Lunar Eclipse will be visible across the entirety of the Americas, most of Europe and Africa, highlighting the regions where its impact may be most felt.
Eclipses have long been seen as heralding great events, such as wars, famine, natural disasters, and the death of kings. Kings being in short supply these days, elected national leaders can sometimes stand in for monarchs, and in democracies, rejection by the voters can substitute for actual physical death. Extrapolating further, eclipses could also symbolize political death, even if the regime or administration remains ostensibly in power.
In the US, this period of political impotency is termed “lame duck,” typically used to refer to the months between the actual election in early November, when voters dismiss their disfavored employees, until the newly elected successors take office – in most years, January 3rd. But for presidents, this period is significantly longer, with their power to persuade, cajole or outright threaten reluctant or resistant supporters, rapidly diminishing following the Midterm Elections of their second terms, with two years still remaining in office.
This is the place where Donald Trump finds himself, as this eclipse unfolds, with Midterm elections looming in November and a new, possibly Democratic-led Congress to convene in January, intent on blocking his agenda at every turn for his remaining time in office.
But this eclipse is not content with generalities which may refer to any world leader; rather, it seems directly focused on the US. When the Lunar Eclipse reaches peak at 12:12 AM EDT on August 28th in Washington, DC, the Moon (4 Pisces) will fall in the Tenth House, which in mundane astrology (the branch which deals with current events) rules the government and heads-of-state, making this eclipse especially potent for the US and the Trump administration.
Lunar Eclipses occur at Full Moon phase, and with the Sun exactly opposed (180 degrees, illuminating, potentially antagonistic) the Pisces Moon, in the Sign of Virgo, matters of health can become predominant (with the Moon ruling the physical body and Virgo ruling health, both generally). In addition to the waning of political power which may ensue from the upcoming elections, Donald Trump may have to deal with physical health challenges. These could be severe enough to require his resignation from office, or lead to an actual physical demise.

The fact that the Lunar Eclipse straddles his natal (1) Ascendant (29 Leo)/Descendant (29 Aquarius) axis lends credence to the supposition that the event will be of particular importance to Trump, affecting his public image or physical appearance (Ascendant), as well as his working relationships with others (Descendant). With Mercury (5 Virgo) conjoined the Moon and opposed the Sun, the eclipse’s manifestations are likely to be newsworthy, and may come in the form of statements, executive orders or records (all Mercury-ruled).
Moreover, this eclipse polarity is further impacted by squares (90 degrees, stressful and challenging) from Uranus (5 Gemini) to both the Sun and the Moon, creating a T-Square (2), a powerful configuration that dramatically increases the tension in an already tense situation. Uranus evokes shocks to the system, sudden, alarming changes, controversy and volatility. Its placement on the peak eclipse’s Ascendant (13 Gemini) in Washington DC heightens its potency for the US.
Medically, Uranus is related to both mental collapse and stroke. In this regard, it may be unsettling to note that Venus (20 Libra), ruling the venous system, is tightly sesquiquadrate (135 degrees) both Uranus and the Lunar Eclipse, with blocked arteries a common cause of apoplexy. As well, Uranus in connection to Mercury, ruling the mind, could suggest a breakdown of normal cognitive function.
Politically, to have the eclipsed Moon in the Tenth House, squared by restless, rebellious Uranus, suggests a revolt (Uranus) by the people (the Moon in a mundane chart) against their leader (Sun). With Mars (10 Cancer) also peripherally involved, in trine (120 degrees) to the Moon, an armed (Mars rules weapons) uprising (Uranus) is not impossible, although this seems unlikely in the US. But voters are certainly rejecting Donald Trump and his policies, with his job approval numbers cratering and dropping consistently into the lower 30 percentile range, across all polls. Rising prices and higher cost of living, exacerbated by Trump’s tariff policies and the disruption of the global oil supply due to his war on Iran, are causing Americans to reappraise their 2024 choices in electing Trump to fix these same economic problems, and finding his performance wanting.
Beyond the planetary leitmotif, we can see a cosmic recitative supplied by the asteroids. In particular, Damocles (5 Pisces) conjoins the Moon, and is a noted source of impending doom or looming threat, unsuspected but about to descend at any moment, which here could imply an undiagnosed medical or mental condition with dire consequences or repercussions.
As well, asteroid Washingtonia (7 Virgo), symbolizing the US capital, conjoins both the Sun and Mercury, opposing the Moon, further focusing the eclipse’s attentions on the current administration and the federal government. Lastly, the Sun/Moon polarity is also bisected by asteroid Whitehouse (20 Capricorn), symbolizing the presidency itself, in semisquare (45 degrees) to the Moon and sesquiquadrate the Sun, also sesquiquadrate Uranus and squared Venus, tying back once again to the potential medical complications from the event. This suggests further unexpected peril for the holder of the office.
Notes: (1) Donald J. Trump, born 14 June 1946, 10:54 AM EDT, Queens, NY; Rodden Rating AA
(2) A T-Square is a dynamic pattern composed of two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees), each squared (90 degrees) a third. It represents stress and conflict, with the fulcrum point (at the square) offering a possibility of resolution.
