Cornell Gang Rape Investigation Reopened

October 8, 2026

By Alex Miller

On 1 October 2026, New York governor Kathy Hochul tasked state Attorney General Letitia James’ office with reviewing the response made by Cornell University to allegations of a gang rape that had occurred at a campus fraternity two years prior, appointing James as special prosecutor, empowered to bring charges stemming from a subsequent investigation.

On the night of October 19-20, 2024, a female student identified as Jane Doe alleges that she was repeatedly raped by several members at the Chi Phi fraternity house, after engaging in consensual sex with two men, and becoming incapacitated by the use of marijuana, alcohol and ketamine.  As Doe lapsed in and out of consciousness, one of the men used a fraternity Snapchat group chat account to alert other members to the presence of “free pussy” upstairs at the fraternity house.

Doe reported the incident to Cornell University Police two weeks later, who found insufficient evidence for a criminal referral for prosecution, with District Attorney Matthew Van Houten citing inconsistencies in Doe’s story.  However, two of the men involved were expelled from the university, two others were suspended and given disciplinary probation, and two more were required to study sexual harassment, social media use, and bystander intervention, as well as write reflection papers.  In 2026, Doe pressed her complaint, and Van Houten agreed to consider presenting evidence to a grand jury, alleging he hadn’t been given the full transcript of the original testimony.

The appointment of a special prosecutor to the case on October 1st occurred under the forming opposition (180 degrees) between Mars (1 Leo), ruling sex, and Pluto (3 Aquarius), ruling sex crimes such as rape.  Mars/Pluto also represents talking action (Mars) in a criminal case (Pluto).  This polarity is bisected by a pairing of Mercury (1 Scorpio), ruling students, investigations and evidence; and Venus (8 Scorpio), ruling females, in square (90 degrees) to each, forming a T-Square pattern (1).  Venus shows here as both the victim, Jane Doe, and the new special prosecutor, Letitia James.

As well, the Sun (8 Libra) opposes Saturn (11 Aries) and Neptune (2 Aries), signaling a focus (Sun) on accountability and punishment (both Saturn) for acts committed under the influence of alcohol and drugs (Neptune).

The original incident on October 19th, 2024, shares this Mars/Pluto opposition signature, with Mars (23 Cancer) opposing Pluto (29 Capricorn), and again activating a T-Square with the spotlighting Sun (26 Libra) on its fulcrum.  This was the prior opposition in the cycle between the two planets, reforming in the skies now as the case is reopened.

Cornell University has been honored with an eponymous asteroid Cornell; its placement (5 Leo) for the appointment of a special prosecutor aligns with the Mars/Pluto opposition, which is also broadly conjoined by the transit position of asteroid Cornell (11 Aquarius) for the incident itself.  At that time, asteroid Cornell opposed a pairing of asteroids Universitas (2 Leo, for “university) and Fraternitas (3 Leo, for “fraternity”), identifying a Cornell University fraternity as the venue for the alleged sex crime.

Notes:  (1) A T-Square is a dynamic pattern composed of two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees), each squared (90 degrees) a third.  It represents stress and conflict, with the fulcrum point (at the square) offering a possibility of resolution.
