Rhapsody in Blue:  The 2026 US Midterm Election Results

November 4, 2026

By Alex Miller

The innate celestial potential for a Democratic blowout of Republicans in the 2026 US Midterm Elections came to full flower on 3 November 2026, with Dems gaining control of both Houses of Congress and picking up seven state governorships as well.  This is reflected in fine detail in the T-Square (1) from a conjunction of the Sun (11 Scorpio) with a retrograde Mercury (13 Scorpio) in square (90 degrees) to asteroids Victoria (20 Leo) and Demokritos (13 Aquarius), presaging an electoral (Mercury) win (Victoria, named for the Roman goddess of victory) for Democrats (Demokritos).  The overwhelming size and scope of that victory is symbolized by Victoria’s conjunction with Jupiter (24 Leo), which inflates, increases and enhances whatever it touches.  Mars also here (19 Leo) fueled voter turnout (an estimated 54 million participated in this election) and focused the electorate on its anger at the current state of affairs.

Not all the results are yet in, but Democrats will have at least 54 Senate seats, to the GOP’s 44, with two races still undecided (in deep red Mississippi, the Dem challenger is ahead of the Republican incumbent by 43 votes, out of almost a million cast), and are projected to control 245-250 seats in the House of Representatives, with just 218 needed for a majority.

Key to the outcome were the retrograde stances of both Mercury and Venus.  Mercury in retro caused a reappraisal by the electorate, and seemed to befuddle the Republicans’ closing message (a Mercury issue), which focused on such sideshows as transgendered athletes, creeping communism, and supposedly jihadist Democratic candidates, instead of addressing the very real economic concerns of their constituents.  When times are good, culture wars can sway the vote, but in times of economic stress such as Americans are currently enduring, money matters trump all else, even Donald Trump.  Trump begged Americans to vote as if he himself were on the ballot, and, overwhelmed by real-life fiscal hardships incurred due to administration polices, that’s just what they did, issuing a stinging rebuke of the President.

That discontent and distress over finances is represented by Venus’ retrograde status (25 Libra), exacerbated by its exact opposition to dwarf planet Eris (25 Aries), symbolizing disaffection, strife and division.  Venus, the planet of money, finance and costs, also rules values, and with Mercury simultaneously in retrograde, Americans were cosmically tasked with judging whether the brutality and inhumanity of the administration’s deportation policies, its unprovoked war with Iran, and its trade wars with formerly staunch allies, truly represented their own ethical stances on these issues.  With asteroid America (19 Libra) conjoined Venus, Americans were highly focused on economic matters, and their money concerns were inflated by Jupiter’s sextile (60 degrees) to Venus, increasing costs beyond what is tolerable by the public.

Venus also squares Pluto (3 Aquarius), ruling corruption and criminality, and government corruption was cited by 90% of the voters in exit polls as a prime motivator in their electoral decisions (rating even higher than affordability, another Venus issue, at 80%).  This square further incorporates asteroids Nemesis (21 Capricorn) and Whitehouse (26 Capricorn), establishing Donald Trump (Whitehouse, indicating the US presidency) as the fons et origo of corruption (Pluto), lining his pockets with public funds while seemingly obsessed with creating monuments to his self-imagined greatness.  As well, with asteroid Bilk (27 Libra) conjunct Venus, and asteroid Swindle (13 Leo) squared Sun/Mercury, Americans know the fix is in, the deck is stacked against them, and the public trust is being abused.

Equity and fairness, additional Venusian arenas, was another major concern for Americans, witnessing that the Rule of Law has been abused as well, with the administration transforming its Justice Department into a vehicle for Trump’s payback vendettas, and presidential pardons distributed like Halloween candy to those wealthy enough to pay for them.  Asteroid Lawless (28 Gemini) is also embedded at station for this election, heightening its prominence in the collective psyche, sesquiquadrate (135 degrees) Sun/Mercury, making it top of mind for voters.  Lawless is also conjunct Donald Trump’s natal Sun (22 Gemini), whose natural bent toward lawlessness is seen in natal Lawless (21 Virgo) closely squared the Sun.

The magnitude of this victory is sweeping, and in many ways unexpected, as displayed by Uranus (4 Gemini), planet of shocks, upsets, surprises and rebellion, opposing asteroid Nike (9 Sagittarius), named for the Greek goddess of victory.  A T-Square with Damocles (1 Pisces) images a doom or peril hanging unseen overhead, about to descend at any moment.  For the GOP, that moment was November 3rd.

It would be impossible to chronicle all the upsets and victories across the country, but let’s take Texas as an example.  The Lone Star State’s eponymous asteroid Texas (1 Aries) found itself at station (2) on Election Day, marking a symbolic “turning point” where a crisis has been reached, and a change of direction is prompted.  And Texans took that to heart, in spades!

Before this election, Texas was end-to-end red in its political affiliations, not having sent a Democrat to the Senate since 1988, nor elected a Democratic governor since 1990.  Tuesday changed all that.  Not only did James Talarico fend off $300 million in negative ads bought by Elon Musk, to win his Senate seat by 1.15 million votes, but three-term incumbent Governor Greg Abbott lost to a Hispanic woman, Gina Hinojosa, 53%-45%.  And the blue tsunami didn’t stop there – Dems flipped a 9-0 Texas Supreme Court dominated by conservatives to a 5-4 bare majority for the GOP, with Dems picking up all four seats on the ballot, and are also now in charge of the Texas State House, which has been in Republican control since 2002.

The 2026 Midterm Elections have afforded Democrats an historic opportunity to effectively block the Trump agenda and restore integrity and public service, working to improve the lot of everyday Americans.  It will be interesting to see how they squander that.

Notes:  (1) A T-Square is a dynamic pattern composed of two or more planets in opposition (180 degrees), each squared (90 degrees) a third.  It represents stress and conflict, with the fulcrum point (at the square) offering a possibility of resolution.

(2) Stations are periods when, from our perspective on Earth, a planet appears to slow its movement, come to a standstill, and reverse course.  This is an optical illusion created by the triangulation between the sun, Earth, and any third celestial body; astrologically, it represents a focusing of the energies associated with that point, and often coincides with major life events or a radical recalibration of how that point has functioned previously.
